That’s partly why I asked if suspending and immediately waking the G1 after a reboot also results in frame skipping, or is this problem just something that starts to happen after the G1 is left on for a while, unrelated to suspend?
I don’t have a way to test the script on the s905x4, all I can do is look at your Kodi, dmesg, journalctl logs for possible issues.
I understand you like logs. I take my privacy seriously. Posting logs in the public is a problem. I haven’t found any way for privately sending messages to forum members. If that is possible I can provide the logs to you and only you.
I will now reboot the G1 and not suspend it. I will see if any skipping happens and will let you know.
Whatever my problem was with regards to it seems to be fixed for now by itself…I don’t have any stutters on waking up from standby anymore that I can replicate…Just hope it doesn’t return …the only change I’ve done in recent times is reverting cec shutdown back to suspend I could test the shh cmd.
Maybe one of the updates between now and when you were experiencing the problem had some positive effect? If you’re happy with CEC wakeup for the default CE suspend, then you don’t have to do anything extra. Otherwise you can try the replacement suspend service with IR wakeup.
I’m not even sure I could resolve anything with logs, it’s just the most descriptive way to see what is going on. It’s no problem if you prefer to keep logs private. If you are seeing the skipping video happen separate from suspend, keep trying to narrow down the cause. Maybe it’s triggered by certain file types or video encodings? I’d check with other G1 users to see if it’s something others are experiencing too.
its just too mysterious. the same file, sometimes skipping, sometimes not. I decided to get rid of the G1. It probably not the G1, but what is it good to me if CE doesn’t make good use of it. There is a point when life time is worth more than testing such a thing.
The G1 is using the the same SOC and CE video playback code as any of the other s905x4 models. I wouldn’t expect different results from the other boxes using the same CE settings, addons, video samples. The difference in support for other boxes is mostly about secondary hardware (Ethernet, WiFi/BT, analog audio, etc).
That said Kinhank sells media boxes with CoreELEC/EmuELEC preinstalled, without the developers’ permission. IMO all of their products should be banned from CE/EE and shouldn’t get any support based on that.
regarding SoC you have a point there. Do not forget that things like integration of LAN or Wifi can play an important role that can impact video playback.
if it is really my use case with CE, then CE may just not be for me.
