I have both the AM6B+ (now at my parents house) and the Homatics box R 4K+ with S905X4 I got for cheap 70 euro, I was worried as well about speed, but to my surprise CE runs smoothly on it using Aeon Nox: Silvo skin, yes AM6B+ is better but it’s not day and night, I’m keeping the AM6B+ as backup but for now using Homatics as it works fine and also get updated Android TV and chromecast which I use now and then.
@Astrotrain I think I will return my Kinhank G1 as long as I still can. Even if it has an IR for wakeup now it will not be supported by CE and that can’t be good.
I am now looking for a S905X4-J/-K Box that has working IR (with wakeup), BT, LAN, and as an optional bonus SD card.
I now found a summary table here:
My last hope regarding IR wakeup currently is the Dune HD plus, but
I have not yet found any definitive confirmation or falsification whether wakeup into CE from power-off state works with with the Dune HD plus.
If someone knows, please let me know whether I can wake up a Dune HD Plus from power off using the IR remote, so that it boots into CE.
Earlier I have tried to find the information myself, table in Markdown:
Device Name | SoC | RAM / eMMC in GB | USB2 | USB3 | SDcard | LAN Mbps | WiFi version | BT version | IR, wakeup supported by CE | Analog audio | SPDIF | remarks |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
RockTek G2 | S905X4-K | 4 / 32 | 1x | 1x | 1x | 1000 | 6 | 5 | no | 1x | 1x | FLIRC wakeup possible? |
Nokia 8010 | S905X4-K | 4 / 32 | 1x | 1x | no | 1000 | 6 | 5 | IR, but no wakeup | 1x | 1x | FLIRC wakeup possible? |
Homatics Box R4K plus | S905X4-K | 4 / 32 | 1x | 1x | no | 1000 | 6 | 5 | no, also not with IR mod | no | 1x | FLIRC wakeup possible? |
Dune HD Plus | S905X4-K | 4 / 32 | 1x | 1x | no | 1000 | 6 | 5 | yes | no | 1x |
Why return it?
Just use it with CE and SD card .
Dont open the G1 Google side.

I considered doing exactly that. Still I am turned off by the fact that it just has 100Mbps LAN, and that LAN does not work for me under CE (tried both, -ng and -ne). The fact that it is not a CE-supported device means that supporting its hardware will not be a priority. I like that it has an IR receiver, but I can’t make any use of it, because wakup is not yet supported, and I think it will never be, because the box will not be used by the developers any more.
My LAN speed has seen over 560 on speedtest (kodi addons)
Portisch fixed the LAN on NG so far.
Anyway Im stuck with the box for now …
I know, the reports on what works are not coherent, see my table:
I understand that CE can’t be moved to EMMC for Homatics/Dune, but what about Ugoos X4Q Extra? Latter has stock Android like AM6B+.
Yes it can with ceemmc -x
. If you don’t mind nuking android. No dual boot. But Ugoos has firmware available for recovery
Not completely by ceemmc tool but can still run from eMMC with combination of USB stick for inital boot.
Anyone knows which device can handle this format " Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, Profile 5.0, dvhe.05.03, BL+RPU, no metadata compression / SMPTE ST 2086, Version HDR10, HDR10 compatible**?
Dune hd (black) with ng build plays it with purple tint, same with dune hd app. Shield tv also plays with purple tint both kodi and vimu. I have other profile 5 samples that play fine. Issue with the file or player just cant handle this file?
Can you provide a sample?
I don’t have a sample but the file contains following properties:
Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, Profile 5.0, dvhe.05.03, BL+RPU, no metadata compression
Does anyone else have a sample matching this profile?
I have no issues profile 5 with : dvhe.05.09 only 05.03 shows purple.
This is 1080p profile 5 DV @ 24fps. Not sure there is any content encoded like this on any streaming service.
Do you know if there’s any device capable of handling this format? Is purple tint expected behavior for Minix u22xj, dune hd boxes?
Not aware there is any content in that format. None, unless you can point it out besides test files.
P5 DV is seen on streaming content, and no streaming service has 1080p DV content.
I cant share the link due to copyright protection but if you search for “IC 814- Kandahar Hijack” and maybe just download only 1 episode for testing? I don’t promote piracy, just like to understand why this format cannot be handled by any of my devices. Thanks for your help
(Newer version of the doc liquidion kindly posted for you)
Profile 5 has no fallback compatibility, see page 9 (BL compatibility), so that’s a red flag for where you got this detail:
“Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, Profile 5.0, dvhe.05.03, BL+RPU, no metadata compression / SMPTE ST 2086, Version HDR10, HDR10 compatible”
The .03 refers the Level ID basically bitrate ability, see page 16.
Outside chance this is lower bitrate “adapted” stream that was captured hence why only 1080.
Can try change the metadata to be profile 8, see what you get - mind you would probably mean editing the file don’t know of a tool that can do that via a simple UI.
I ran an iperf3 fro the Kinhank G1 to my media server over WiFi 5GHz. The max was 27MBytes/s. That is a bit less than with a 1Gbit/s USB3 NIC, but a lot more than with the built-in NIC on 100Mbit/s. (The built-in NIC never worked with 1Gbit/s for, neither with -ng, nor with -ne).
Have you encountered video playback issues with DuneHD Homatics Box R 4k Plus/ Nokia 8010 / RockTek G2 … devices with CoreElec? Dolby vision?
Do you recommend these devices for CoreElec?
