Without the Kinhank in the running, I believe TOX3 would be the next in line if you are willing to make some sacrifices (BT4, WiFi 5 and no DV) in comparison to the G1 (BT5, WiFi6, DV). There is a possibility that Kinhank could reverse their changes and take their spot back on this list but only time will tell.
I run CE on a SD card but not all SD cards are created equal. I’m running on a Samsung EVO+ and happy with performance.
The 3 kernels can be confusing: NG the oldest and will likely be removed once NO becomes stable - suitable for older devices NE recommended for newer devices but only supports a handful of SoC’s NO is for the future as it only supports Kodi 22, which is still in Alpha status. Suitable for those that enjoy testing the latest but not a daily driver.
Don’t want to sound rude but do you understand thar CoreElec is not an android operating system and most don’t care much about what issues android have, but if your issues are with CoreElec, those issues you mention, from the top of my head most of them work fine on CoreElec. One of the biggest issue was the HD audio and it was fixed ages ago. I use pass through for all my audio without any problems . My decoder decodes everything I throw at it .
Some people also do not care about DV and this SoC is one of the fastest and has enough memory for heavy skins .
I’m using latest no nightly from kodi 21 just fine for ages. Did not upgrade to 22 as it does not seem stable enough for a daily driver
Interesting. This media player shows X96 X10 Amlogic S928X-J. The Ugoos SK1 shows Amlogic S928X-K…
Does one support Dolby Vision and the other one not?? I have also seen Amlogic with S***X-J/K.
What do those letters indicate??
The letter extension specifies the additional licenses the SOC has:
-J : Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Vision
-K : Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS, Dolby Vision
Under CE, I assume same MEL DV w/both J & K, and Dolby TrueHD/ATMOS & DTS-HD/MA/X passthrough? If so, this would be a much cheaper S928X-powered CE box w/all the important things in it like Ugoos AM8 or SK1, at least under CE.
Haha, addiction strikes again!!
Back about 10 to 15 years ago, when I started buying these boxes / sticks they were never more than $30 US.
Of course they didn’t even support Dolby digital.
yeah ofc as it should be, it’s funny Amlogic for whatever stupid reason did not offer 64 bit SDK even with the previous 4GB boxes like Ugoos AM6 series it’s 32 bit Android OS.
