ucode_video.bin has nothing to do with python. It’s a proprietary file that is provided with the Android firmware required for video decoding, and that CE relies on too. You have to direct your question to Amlogic, CE has no control over this. The ucode version limitation only affects SOCs from the s905x4 forward. Older SOCs don’t have this Amlogic implemented limitation.
you are better off contacting Amlogic and asking them to patch their kernel 5.15 video decoding source to be compatible with older ucode versions.
It is not the RAM it is SoC variant (-J or -K) plus availability of a dovi.ko firmware at the current kernel level that gives h/w DV capability. One user has reported he didn’t need a variant but to me that could indicate a misnamed SoC and I wouldn’t take the risk.
Myself and several others had issues with the ethernet port on that device both in Android and CoreElec. I never could get iperf to pull more than 300Mbps even though it is a gigabit port. We reported this issue in the support forums. The Minix staff argued with us in circles blaming our “methodology”, our cables, our equipment, etc even though every other devices we tested would saturate the 1G pipe. This was six months ago and last I checked there still has been no mention of addressing the issue. I returned mine and will likely never buy another product from them again based on support interactions.

Hi guys, I’m looking for a new device either a silent mini pc or an SK1 or Rocktek GX1 perhaps. My only needs are that it can do Dolby vision and 4K 120hz through HDMI 2.1. Ive already got a Ugoos AM6B Plus so I’m good there, just looking for a very fast daily driver to play with. If anybody has any good suggestions money isn’t really an issue, cheers!
I have never seen this device mentioned before, but is it really true it will support P7 FEL from android envioment according to desciption?
It is cheaper than Homatic R 4k plus, but only 2GB ram. However I believe this should still be sufficient.
I believed it was only possible from CoreElec and Linux.
Can it even run CE?
awesome, thanks for sharing. It seems that the Russian site was correct on Units being dispatched in July, hence that will be the first device that will spotted to have the new s905x5 , wonder who else will start releasing their devices with s905x5
I doubt they will be delivering before other partners or official Ugoos. All they have done is take pre orders. Sometimes for a new product they have a small sale on, Ugoos might offer $5 of if you order with them etc.
