CoreELEC 22.0-Piers_beta2 Discussion

I went to download it from the Github site but the zip file I got is only 23Mb as opposed to 372Mb for Beta1. I don’t think I got the right one. CE’s download page doesn’t offer the latest Beta2 version. Can you provide a link to it, please, or tell me which link I need to be looking at on the Github site?

Thanks.
So, is my library at risk, or has that been installed by CE on eMMC?
Should I do a full install or can I use my PC to just copy folders and files from that archive to the existing installation on the USB drive?

Copy the .tar file to /storage/.update and restart CE. The update will then be installed automatically. This takes only a few seconds. CE restarts, and since the movie library’s database version has changed, it is migrated upon the first startup. The time this takes depends on the size of your movie library. Installed add-ons are also updated if necessary.
Incidentally, it is never a bad idea to back up an existing system before performing an update.

I’m assuming I cannot copy the file to /storage/.update using my Windows PC. Is that correct? If so, as I have never done this before, would the best method be to copy the update to a 2nd USB drive and then use the Kodi file manager to copy it over to that directory?

A backup will definitely be done prior to doing the update. Also, after updating, will dovi.ko and remote.conf need to be replaced?

@Portisch I put a PR out for the Ugoos Am6b+ CEC regression

I really tried to get CEC-B working on this thing but all I could see was that it was reporting itself to be setup correctly but losing bus arbitration and follower errors. So I just set it back to use CEC-A

Maybe it’s about your setup. CE is using now for years over all SoC CECB. So I see no real reason why it should use now CECA.

It’s definitely a possibility.
Though in my setup things went from working in CE21 to the behavior I’m seeing now in CE22.
Nothing was changed, no devices were updated. Heck… I didn’t even unplug a cable.

I don’t think (my) problem is an issue with the CEC stack above the driver though. I posted a comment in that PR with my explanation.

Probably best just to make a mental note of it for now and see if people start coming out of the woodwork with the same problem as more people move to CE22.
I won’t post about it again in the forum unless things change.

I’ve been using my X88 Pro X3 (S905X3) Android Box with CoreELEC 21.3 (and previous version) with great pleasure for years. Today I wanted to test CE 22.0 beta 2 and although it boots (with sm1_s905x3_4g_1gbit.dtb as dtb.img in root) I have no network. Unplugging and plugging in the ethernet cable shows it’s disconnected and connected. But I keep getting 169.254.x.x ip adresses. No network with static settings either. As if data is not going in or out.

I also tried CoreELEC-Amlogic-no.aarch64-22.0-Piers_nightly_20260929-Generic.img just to be sure but with the same results.

I did notice that the dtb.xml created in root shows something weird and different from my CE 21.3 stick.

CE 22.0 dtb.xml shows:

<motorcomm status="migrated" dt_id="sc2_s905x4*1gbit" version="3"> <motorcomm_n_a name="n/a"> <cmd path="ethernet@f*000 internal_phy" type="i"> <value>2</value> </cmd> </motorcomm_n_a> <motorcomm_a name="assembled"> <cmd path="ethernet@f*000 internal_phy" type="i"> <value>0</value> </cmd> </motorcomm_a> <motorcomm_migrated name="migrated"/> </motorcomm>

Where 21.3 dtb.xml shows:

<ip1001 status="n/a" dt_id="sm1_s905x3*1gbit" version="1"> <ip1001_n_a name="n/a"> <cmd path="/ethernet@ff3f0000 mc_val" type="x"> <value>0x1621</value> </cmd> <cmd path="/ethernet@ff3f0000 cali_val" type="x"> <value>0x10000</value> </cmd> <cmd path="/ethernet@ff3f0000 rx_delay" type="i"> <value>0</value> </cmd> <cmd path="/ethernet@ff3f0000 auto_cali_idx" type="i"> <value>0</value> </cmd> </ip1001_n_a> <ip1001_a name="assembled"> <cmd path="/ethernet@ff3f0000 mc_val" type="x"> <value>0x1609</value> </cmd> <cmd path="/ethernet@ff3f0000 cali_val" type="x"> <value>0xc0000</value> </cmd> <cmd path="/ethernet@ff3f0000 rx_delay" option="d"/> <cmd path="/ethernet@ff3f0000 auto_cali_idx" option="d"/> </ip1001_a> </ip1001>

As if the processor and wired network is not correctly recognized.

Please let me know if you need any further info or debugging about this.
This is an NON fake 4GB/32GB 1GBit version of the X88 Pro X3 btw.

Hi, i have a Tanix TX5 with the s905y5 and i can’t get past the boot animation, it just boots for 3-4sec and then reboots and repeats, i tried the s7_s905y5 2/4gb, s7_s905y5_sei_900_hdplus dtb but they all do the same, is there a way i can fix this?
