CoreELEC Amlogic-ng(4.9 kernel) for S905X/S905D/S905W - FunHouse builds

I just now checked same flashdrive what I used in my X96 Mini (S905W, 1/8) and it work (just changed dtb from p212 to p281), but didnt work in my S905X 1/8, bootloop after CoreELEC logo.

adding to this: I tried both gxl_p212_1g_slowemmc.dtb and gxl_p212_1g.dtb with both S905X boxes.

One issue to report.
Device is a nexbox a95x running funhouse 2006.7
Every time I try to copy my retro games over samba, I get a crash about 1/3 of the way in. The whole system reboots.
It is ~2gb of data. I am using a 32GB Sandisk SD card that should have more than enough room on it.

Logs:
I would love to provide these, but every time I try to use the coreelec tool to upload them, I get a generic error saying failed to upload logs.

Is there anyway I can add a different screen saver or skin?
Every time I press get more, it either closes or shows no additional skins or screen savers.

It took a very long time for my A95x to post the first time. I didn’t time it but it was over 5min I think.
You might want to give it more time.

Just re-did the sdcard for my A95X. Using “reboot update” the boot screen just stays on the coreelec logo. Waited for 20 minutes, but no change. What method did you use to switch to the funhouse build?

3 posts were merged into an existing topic: Amlogic S905X3, S905Y3, S905D3 thread

You can’t update. As noted in the OP, you have to make a fresh card.

I did make a new card. As the op said, I redid the installation procedure (tried both reset pin while power on and “reboot update” from sudo shell ) to boot it.

Hi,

The Vontar X96 does not want to boot from the SD card. Only the start screen with the X96 logo appears and nothing happens. If I insert the SD card with 9.2.1, everything is OK.

Have you tried to hold the reset button?

Yes, of course

I will add information about the device:
Vontar X96 S905X, 2G/16G, gxl_p212_2g.dtb

@B1oHazard since you said that you can manage to connect to the box that boot loops can you run

ce-debug

and post the url it outputs, so that I can take a look.

ce-debug http://ix.io/2bA7
kodi.log http://ix.io/2bAq
dmesg http://ix.io/2bAr
Just set max a53 freq to 1.2 and ssh in config.ini, fresh flashdrive with funhouse2006.2 (as i saw new build was minor fix, so there no difference)
I can find kodi.bin process, it running, but on TV i see black screen. Sometimes it not got bootloop, like now.

Guys, I had an issue with the booting. Wasn’t too cozy to perform reset with the toothpick so I tried and managed the old fashion way, renamed the dtb (in my case for a Bqeel M9C Max S905X/2G/16G) from xxx.p212.dtb to dtb.img and at next reboot I could see CE logo. Maybe this workaround will help others.

Not so pleasant part was after first update, the system crashed after 30 seconds of playing videos locally or streaming online (from the addon Arte+). On funhouse_2006.2 I didn’t have any issues. I will perform a downgrade and see.

Is this build based on this repo?

Trying to use WinTV dualHD with TVheadend server - no success. dmesg shows that the receiver is correctly initialized, both with CrazyCat and LatestKernel/MediaBuild driver packs:

But TVheadend does not show the TV adapter. I tried all three available TVheadend versions.

If I use the default kernel drivers, at least one tuner of the two available is recognized in TVheadend, but channel scan fails. This is not surprising, it is an old bug known.

I use GT King Pro but crazycat drivers don’t recognize the TBS5520S tuner.
Edit:Sorry I introduced it now.

Everyone please check your subnetmask if you are using Fixed IP for your hardware.

funhouse_2006.7 updating to funhouse_2008.2

Subnetmask may have changed to 0.0.0.0 after updating.

In my case i changed it to 255.255.255.0

Changing it to 255.255.255.0 may not be the correct value for everyone depending on how you have your network setup…
So set the correct value in subnetmask.
