EAC3 issues (PCM output) : audio dropouts since coreelec 19

Hi

(EDIT : i’m adding logs, with the issue happening around 13:17:16)

i’m using Odroid N2 and Coreelec for years. I’m using PCM multichannel for audio HD because my AVR (Denon 4306 with HDMI 1) is a fine 7.1 AVR but old. It worked flawlessly up to coreelec 18.

Since Coreelec 19 i have issue with some EAC3 tracks. I have sound cuts (about 1sec or less) or audio dropouts (don’t know how it’s best to call this). Some tracks do work fine, others have issues. Both use audio decoder ff-eac3. It seems that when the track is ATMOS, it works fine. I guess there’s some bug here because with coreelec 18 there’s not this issue. I’m surprised that i have never heard about this for months (people with old AVRs). It also seems to only happen if video is in UHD.

Here are some examples :

With issue :

No issue :

Any advice how to debug this ? should i post on a KODI forum ? Is it possible to tweak the audio decoder ?
PS : VPETER : if you read me you might me one of my greatest hope to solve this
PPS : i still have to test coreelec 20 but i’m not confident since no one talks about this.

no one using pcm multichannel output with an old avr ???

Test with clean fresh CE-20 install on new boot media.

I have seen a PR at Kodi about True-HD and DD+, maybe it’s related to your issue. So it might be solved in future CE-20 versions.

Hi Portisch

thanks for your reply…I’m happy to finally have someone replying ! This issue began with CE19. I performed a fresh install with CE20 yesterday, same issue unfortunately. CE20 is installed on a high speed Sandisk SD card and the videos are on a Samsung SSD.
I noticed that the issue is only with EAC3 sound tracks that do NOT have ATMOS information AND with untouched 2160p video. If the video is 2160p but light or 1080p, then i don’t have the issue.
I don’t know if it’s related to KODI, FFMPEG,Linux,…I don’t know if it’s a bug or if something changed (like quality increase ?) and if there is a slight increase of DATA and it’s too high for HDMI1 ? It was fine with CE18 so it’s very unfortunate ;(

I would be more than happy to help with testing but i don’t know who can be interested.
