Hello folks, I’ve been looking to flash the latest version of CoreELEC on VIM3L. I checked the Development Status page, which does show the S905D3 being supported for the 21.3 release (Omega) with Amlogic Vendor Kernel 4.9 (Amlogic-ng); screenshot below
as well as for the 22.0 release (Piers, though in Alpha) with Amlogic Vendor Kernel 5.15 (Amlogic-no); screenshot below.
So I have the following questions now:
- Is the last stable release image I can use on the VIM3L only 21.3?
- Per coreelec:khadas [CoreELEC Wiki] , looks like the dtb tree procedure is applicable only for Amlogic-ng kernels. Why then is the VIM3L’s chip (S905D3 under the SM1 family) being listed on the Developer Status page under the Amlogic Vendor Kernel 5.15 (Amlogic-no) table?
- I could use the LibreELEC 2025.11 release but support for SM1 (S905D3) is listed as alpha, and LibreELEC itself says CoreELEC is better suited for Amlogic devices, but is there any way at all to upgrade to a more recent stable CoreELEC version than 21.3 (Omega)?
Thanks and cheers.
