That’s what I mean, a standard HDR version of the same file looks the same to me, regardless of whether I enable player led or not.
I thought only P7 can have FEL?
You have to check content that is brighter than your TV capabilities otherwise there’s not much difference between HDR10 and DV.
With enabling/disabling “Player led” option you are just switching between your player doing DV processing or your TV is doing DV processing. You’d need to have very good eyes with appropriate test material to see any difference.
Anyway, when both devices (player & TV) do acurate DV processing, there isn’t much difference to see, if any; so all is OK on your side ![]()
the only noticeable difference probably would be with the near black areas that can a bit crushed with player-led (depending on TV and content).
I have an LG CX, DV content always plays in 8-bit BT.709 colour although the content is in 4:2:0 10 bit bt.2020 format. Anyway to change that. Sorry if this was already discussed. I have just bought this device am6b+ and a little confused
That device officially supports DV. Just use the stock version of CE.
How are you getting this information? Through the LG CX “Channel Tuning” method? If so, there is a known bug on that method. You need to use the LG VRR Info method:
If you press the green button on your original LG remote multiple times (Around ten times in a row) it will show the pop-up VRR Information. This method shows the correct info being received by the LG CX.
I have seen this info using the VRR method. By pressing the green button. It shows DV8B TM. Also tried checking using the cpm build and cpm estuary skin. I have used both stock CE and CPM build, both show the same info as DV8b TM
I am assuming that by DV8B TM you mean “RGB 8b TM DOLBYVISION” shown on the forth (last) bullet item on the “VRR Information” pop-up. If that is the case then that is correct for Display-Led Dolby Vision on a LG CX.
Okay. Thanks for the confirmation. As the dispaly is 10-bit, I thought maybe the DV would also show 10-bit. Is it processing DV in 4:4:4 8-bit then?
To add a little bit of more info:
“Dolby developed RGB tunneling over HDMI, with the metadata embedded in the signal itself, to allow proprietary Dolby Vision 12-bit video and metadata to travel through HDMI 2.0 interfaces, without having to wait for the standardization of HDMI 2.0a.”
Dolby Vision RGB Tunneling
“The method Dolby Vision (DV) uses to transport the signal over HDMI is referred to as “RGB Tunneling”. The 12-bit ICtCp DV signal + Metadata is encapsulated inside the regular RGB 8-bit video signal. The DV “tunneling” carries 12-bit YCbCr 4:2:2 data in an RGB 4:4:4 8-bit transport. This is possible because both signal formats have the same 8.9 Gbps data rate requirements.”

What build do I flash on my odroid n2 for dolby vision to work
The one from post # 503; I believe that is the latest…
Just to clear, the DV the MKV remuxed with the layer from the UHD disk won´t work to , right? (FEL)
C/P from @doppingkoala: “no profile 5 or FEL. Profile 8.1, p7 MEL, and p7 FEL as MEL all work”
Since Dolby looks like is abandoning FEL only MEL is the future…
Copy this .tar file to storage/.update folder, and reboot.
EDIT: I managed to reset video calibration settings, all good now.
I updated my Odroid N2+ from the latest nightly build to the attached file in the thread and all HDR and DV files play fine, except the picture is only showing at the top left part of the screen, no matter what HDR or DV content i try. SDR plays fine. Any suggestions? Thanks !
@doppingkoala I am trying to do some experimentation/testing on your discovery of using the YUV422_BIT12 tunnel for Display-Led instead of the default method. I am planning on using cpm’s version as the build for this experiment/test. Where on cpm’s code should I change to force the use of the YUV422_BIT12 tunnel for Display-Led? Thank you for your help.
