Remote Support Recommendation

Hi all,

I’m installing an Odroid N2 running Kodi (CoreELEC 9.2.3) at a friends place that is a couple of hundred kms from my place and I want to offer some sort of Remote Support. Will need to be able to change settings, upgrade and maybe SSH access.

They have a Netcomm NF18acv Router on HFC which does not have VPN, which is a shame.

I could Teamviewer into their MAC but I’m trying to get a method to not involve the person at all, if at all possible. Yes, I could port forward VNC and SSH to the N2, just wondering if there’s a better option.

TIA

You don’t need vpn. Make sure only to use public key or at least change the password. I highly recommend a public key use the CE option to disable passwords. I would not forward VNC, I would tunnel it through ssh. This would be the safest way to do it.

When you say “change the password” you mean SSH, Yes? Have not used the public key option, can you explain further?

EDIT: Did some reading and setup a public key, thank again.

Great idea, don’t know why I did not think of that.
Thanks
