We can just wait as well until libMali is working.

I got the dtb file from Android, but I couldn’t edit it.I uploaded the Core elec 21 version to the SD card, it stays in the logo and rotates constantly. How can I edit or find the appropriate dtb file?
I’m a little curious , I’m impatient and I want to test.
My device Ugoos AM8

What are you going to do without libmali support for this soc?

Got my AM8 today finally.

Hope this 1.3.2 update gives the CE team what they need to get this box up and running.

It’s an android box with no certs so no official Netflix apps etc, runs kodi android and its quite responsive and aeon mq skins run smooth, no coreelec yet and maybe never

It’s well built and doesn’t seem to get that hot

Not much more to say about it

It’s running very hot, I am experiencing some barely noticeable slowdowns sometime during playback of mp4 movies over NFS and 1Gbit wired network (using kodi), I am assuming something runs in the background and takes cpu cycles so I would prefer coreelec instead android OS.

What audio and Video codecs does it support? Dolby DTS-HD MA? TrueHD? Dolby Atmos?
Does it support automatic frame and resolution switching?
Does it have samba support?

Ugoos has great software support, and they have been around for quite awhile.

From the photo, it looks like it has a very good heatsink. What are the temps that it is running??

it is not supported on videos with opus audio format with android but it works with kodi.
Tested with Am Player and MoviePlayer.
When set to ExoPlayer in the Am Player settings, opus and AAC audio formats work.
in 20-minute 8K videos, the temperature varies between 30 and 40 degrees.

54°C while watching movies and it’s not even set to use max performance mode. It supports all audio standards but I am passing them through HDMI to my AV Receiver. Maybe I should mention that it’s put inside glass shelf along with Nintendo Switch and AV Receiver with poor air ventilation but nevertheless I didn’t expect it to have so high temps.

Samba, NFS, Cifs, AFR, and audio passthru supported.

If never than CoreELEC is essentially dead moving forward as these boxes start to use newer hardware architectures.

Yes, we’re preparing the funeral right now. This is a CoreELEC forum. As usual we allow some latitude in the discussions but if you start moving far from CoreELEC device discussion we’ll have to close the thread until we support the device.

Well said @Vasco. As I passively read this, I was thinking that the tone was becoming hectoring.

just wanted to mention, my comment was in no way a dig or anything at all, it was just to say the current state of the device, as you guys work hard to give us a great platform and closed source is closed source, my N2 does exactly what i need it to do and that’s flawless playback for HDR/HDR10+ mkv’s and such but who doesn’t like new toys  ,i have an Oppo for full fat dolby vision movies

You cannot support FEL via a firmware update because FEL is actually 2 videos overlaid on top of each, so it requires 2 H.265 decoders which this chip does not have. The S905X5 apparently has 2 decoders so that might be able to decode FEL depending.

This is not true, there up to 9 decoder in hardware supported since years. I think since g12a.

It’s just not usable as Kodi is only able to handle one decoder and not two simultaneously like for PiP.

We use for FEL already two decoders but the problem is when one frame decode fail all get stuck.
