It has an older revision motherboard I see (2021-05, SMB.280.05), compared to the first (retail) revision of the Homatics R Plus (Silver, revision B, 2022-03, SMB.280.08C), (RoseGold revision D, 2022-12, SMB.280.08E).
The G2 has an SD slot, which was dropped by Sei Robotics during product development for their R Plus as it caused stability issues (feedback from SEI Employee). All in all it is clear it is a different hardware revision, I don’t know if later production builds of the G2 still used the same motherboard revision.
I recall some Ethernet issues for the Rocktek in the beginning of CE usage for these series of devices, which the other SEI804’s did not have, but not sure if I recall that correctly.
Long story short, use whatever works, and if NG and NO both do, use what is most liked
Thanks as I said originally it worked with CE and the SD card has always worked fine for v22 so no issues here.
Solved the problem! … user error
.
So, when I (and guessing maybe @emveepee) wrote the CE image to USB or mSD card, we used the Download Helper from the CE homepage. Well, I had assumed 21.3-Omega (Stable) was the NG image that downloaded, didn’t look, and wrote the image to USB stick. Well, it was (is) actually NE 21.3. Used the correct SEI DTB, but maybe adding dovi.ko for S905X4 from here caused the Rocktek logo boot loop?
Anyway, just manually downloaded ng.arm-21.3-Omega-Generic image, and NG installed fine. Did still loop on the Rocktek logo like 3 times, but then…
Just got the exact same box and firmware. CoreELEC-Amlogic-ng.arm-21.3 failed. CoreELEC-Amlogic-no.aarch64-22.0-Piers_beta1 worked. dtb.img was always taken from the SD after flash. I suspect something funky is op with this. Mabye once NO is up and running it will take NG?
Did you try CE-NG w/ADB reboot update method?
Just curious. What revision shows for the Rocktek G2 in CE?
