Ugoos AM9 Pro - SoC S6 S905X5-J

Thanks You & Thanks CE Team for fixes

@boot2k3 @Portisch

VC-1 Playback with pixel artefacts.
When playing films, the following pixel artefacts occur:
Short Video: HiDrive
VC-1 file: HiDrive
Log: https://paste.coreelec.org/2/mFdV
and there is occasional stuttering.
From 2:48 mins onwards, the artefacts get really bad; I have several movies in this format.
Please fix it.

VC-1 code is old and don’t have updates from amlogic for a long time.
So you can try your lack with AI only.
But I think it’s some HW decoder bug with fast movement objects.

I think that’s it, because I don’t get any artifacts on the AM6B+ and everything plays back cleanly.
please fix it

Sure Boss, we throw everything away and focus on a old obsolete codec, just for you, for free in our free time. Family can wait.

Please first submit the overtime authorization form. I’ll put it forward with a forum print.

VC-1 is why I still keep an HP mini PC connected to the TV with MPC-BE, as well as my CoreElec box. I’ve got plenty of older files that don’t play nicely on the AM6B+ or the 9Pro. It’s old… re-encode them or play on something else is my way of dealing with it. There are better things to spend coding time on than VC-1.

No one is forcing anyone to use CE. Repating same thing again and again will not help. Actually it can be much worse!

Test image which allows USB to be powered off in suspend and shutdown.
Feedback welcome. Booted from USB or not.

When shut down, the USB ports and the box are turned off; however, if you start it up again and immediately press “Shut down,” the USB ports turn off, but the box reboots.

Just don’t do that and there is no issue.

Can’t replicate that.

are you also looking for unnecessary problems IRL too?

It’s just strange that it’s suddenly working now—the USB ports and the box now switch off during shutdown and stay off.
Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t.

No, but I’m trying to help

@vpeter
The standby (Suspend) function works reliably: the USB ports switch off and the device enters standby mode. As for updates, CE automatically checks for them every 6 or 12 hours; when you wake the device from standby, you receive a notification that updates have been downloaded—and after a restart, everything is up to date.

That way, you could leave the box in standby mode permanently.

:scream:

I tested both, USB A and USB C connections with power indicators. Both did stay on, doesn’t matter if power off or suspend.

So maybe a Android setting.
It’s controlled by BL30 blob of the bootloader anyway.
So no chance for CE to change anything.

Contact Ugoos and stop spamming forum (again)!

This answer about spamming is cheeky, because vpeter was asking.

Hey @vpeter

Thanks for this! I’ve just tested it out - the noise issue I mentioned is still there, so it might not be related to the USB ports not shutting down.

Is anyone else noticing the noise when suspending their AM9 Pro from CE?

Forget VC-1 HW decoding on Amlogic it will never be ok. Just re-encode to HEVC high bitrate, that’s what I did with all my VC-1 videos and there will be no more VC-1 videos ever so…
