Ugoos AM9 - SoC S6 S905X5

What is the purpose of using “additional” remote for AM9? Is it for to be able power it off/on?

CEC works perfectly fine so I can control Kodi using my TV’s remote.

Maybe I used the wrong config file. Where did you find that config file?

UR02 remote config

remote.conf

Because it should be ready whenever you need it; and I don’t like CEC; because it’s sometimes unstable.

I prefer a remote with number keys for PVR.

Thank you for your help!

WOL doesn’t work.

Yes, I do have WOL enabled in Hardware section. Running CoreELEC (Piers-Nightly 20251201) on Ugoos AM9.

It works on Odroid-N2 with CoreELEC 21.3.

I tried:

  • put Ugoos AM9 into suspend mode by launching systemctl suspend in ssh
  • send magic packet from router, laptop, Android-phone… nothing is waking it up
  • only CEC signal from TV is waking it up on HDMI connection via Denon amplifier. Result is: every video only green screen.

See these lines in kodi.log when seeing green screen:

info : VideoPlayer: OnLostDisplay received
warning : CAMLDRMUtils::aml_set_drmDevice_mode - current crtc do not have frame buffer
info : VideoPlayer: OnResetDisplay received
info : CVideoPlayerVideo: display reset occurred, clear skipped frames

Even Kodi restart by systemctl restart kodi doesn’t fix green screen. Only reboot is a fix.

Has anyone else experienced Bluetooth adapter not being detected starting from the Piers 22 nightly build dated 03/12/2025? I’ve tested on a fresh install of both the 03/12 and 04/12 nightlies with no luck. Coreelec bluetooth setting reports no adapter found.

Setup Details:

  • Device: Ugoos AM9

  • CoreELEC: Nightly builds Piers 22 (2025-12-03 and 2025-12-04)

  • Installation: Clean wipe and fresh install each time

  • Bluetooth: Works fine in Android bootloader

Notably, there was a firmware update released for the AM9 around the same time. Could this be interfering?

No, works fine. Just tested on AM9. bluez 5.85 is used.

Any idea why this happens? And only on Coreelec, and not on Android. Should I install something manually? Did you install the Ugoos update?

Enable terminal sharing so it can be looked: coreelec:term_share [CoreELEC Wiki]

Hi @allall. Does someone have since nightly 4.12. and the one before problems to play a movie/tv content? After the update if I want to play any .mkv files from library or via filemanager, it takes a long time to start and I got sometimes the CE Boot Logo for about 2-3 sec. and hear the sound of played file and sometimes I see only the library but it doesn’t switch to the played picture.

BTW: I did on Android side a update from the firmware that showed up yesterday, could this be the reason?

Create fresh CE USB or uSD and check if fresh install also has same issue.

there was a file browser update and user pass got changed to admin/coreelec.

Pass admin is not accepted anymore so it’s might related to this change:

Yes, definitely this is the cause: AM9 firmware upgrade to 2.0.4.

I have 2 AM9 devices both running the same CoreELEC and on one of them I just did AM9 firmware upgrade and then see the same result: mkv files doesn’t play. Now the question is how to rollback

[Update]

Downloaded firmware 1.2.0 from Download Center, renamed it from AM9_1.2.0.7z to AM9_1.2.0.zip, selected as to file to perform firmware update and… after few minutes “update failed” Repeated action and now it stuck at “Preparing for update”

I don’t know what to do now… On one hand google says select zip file as the firmware for manual update but then why Ugoos provides a z7 file? Inside that 7z file there are: AM9_1.2.0.img and Aml_USB_Burn_Tool_v3.3.4.zip… Maybe I will try to zip only AM9_1.2.0.img file and then select this new zip file? Horrible experience…

We need urgently a way to flash CoreELEC to eMMC and forget about that Android crap

I had the same problem with AM7 before; after restoring the older firmware it was fixed under all CE. I always turn off automatic updates under Android because CE features usually change too..!

Seems latest AM9 firmware has some changes which doesn’t works correctly with CE. Investigation continues.

Don’t rename zipped file.

More importantly the file you unzipped has all you need to downgrade.

Use USB Burning Tool to flash the 120 Android Firmware to your Box.

There are many tutorials on how to in CoreELEC wiki or Google it

Did not found any video on YT or manuals on CE wiki how to flash fw particulary on AM9. If you know such tutorial paste the link.

I tried USB Burn Tool 3.3.4. Can’t make it to detect my device. I tried many combinations with using Recovery hole, booting into Android Recovery (here it is “Return to previous firmware” but it says “Firmware not found" and no way to select img file on SD inserted) booting into bootloader, entering to fastboot mode… in all of this modes box is not detected in USB Burn Tool 3.3.4. During the startup I see DNL device in Device Manager on Windows 11 but it is for only 1-2 seconds visible.

I’m lost. Can’t revert from 2.0.4 to 1.2.0 firmware.

[Update] Got it! USB Burn Tool 3.3.4 inside 7z with 1.2.0 firmware is not an setup file but it is already content of this app and of course when launched it works but apparently drivers are missing. USB Burn Tool 3.3.3 inside 7z with 2.0.4 firmware contain V3_setup_V3.3.3.exe which need to be installed and it install drivers as well. Then I was able to flash 1.2.0 firmware.
