LE did drop Amlogic as they did not fit into mainline. And will never. Sorry to tell the truth for the users still wait with LE to get maybe one day full hardware support for Amlogic. This will never happen. Amlogic did and will use vendor kernel forever. It’s to be able to give best media performance to users, not newest kernel.
CE was a small team since day one and become smaller over the time. Maybe some day the end is reached anyway and we close down completely.
This is again just a nice example that all users want to have something but there is no help…
I had no intention of ever installing CPM until I saw how easy it was to install lol. I’m also glad that the ATEME fix didn’t get merged into mainline until after I tried CPM. With player-led DV I don’t need much of the advanced stuff, but the inverse tone-mapping of SDR and HDR content alone is dope.
I hope you have gotten over the misunderstanding because you should know how much we users appreciate your work. But it is also clear that even the devs feel the same way too.
Ah, this is so very sad to hear, especially at this point in development of DV staff with so many knowledgeable people that took interest in CE.
I wish I was younger and more development savvy, I’d be willing to join such a great team…
I don’t mind supporting this project with a fee to keep this going, just setup payment and hopefully all users who benefits off this can contribute with how much they can now and then, I can drop €50 now and if 50-100 other users do the same it’s a good start.
CE is and was never a commercial product. We as team do all in free time as hobby for free. The income is only need to cover the outcome to not run in negative. We did never accept any donation or payment. We only get help by get free samples and access to source.
This is the team philosophy and I think it will never change.
So the only way to help the project is to support it in any way what is possible for each individual.
Just want to say thankyou for making hardware and software exciting again. people have really enjoyed your work and I understand you went much further than you intended to when you started this project and added things you yourself won’t use. I wish you the best in whatever you do, it’s just your contribution is that cool that people are putting more pressure on team CE that are already stretched to the limits . You all are awesome so just do what makes you happy
It’s a PR for a 4.9 EOL system. We merged it, than did uplift to NE, 5.4. What does at least compile (untested if it works at all). Then the lift to NO, 5.15, and it does not even compile. So we need to invest minimum a few days to check, compile, test and confirm the uplift.
Perfect man, that’s awesome. Remember DoVi doesn’t work on 5.15 until there’s a kmod that’s posted. With the newer generation of android boxes coming out, hopefully something can be ripped soon (if Homatics doesn’t step up?). The other guy sending 3 emails and getting the binaries, was, well, expected.
The whole point is cpm is dabbling with code to fix his setup, and sharing that with the community. It’s the same deal as what you guys were going through with LibreELEC, with the tree ultimately getting trashed. This is OSS, the fixes largely make sense, and starting from somewhere, as opposed to nowhere, is better for everyone. Attacking cpm saying he’s not submitting PRs upstream as a downstream consumer is not great, especially when the stance was they’d be rejected because they’re for the present featureful stable kernel.
This hasn’t gone well, but it’s what everyone still uses now (until 5.15 gets that kmod, then we’re moving, and you’ve been laying the groundwork for that). Even if it’s lost going to 5.15, for the next set of releases into the future they’ll be in the tree, and that’s what matters. Lets fix this man.
For goodness sake ppl are dying in unnecessary wars around the world and we are squabbling over something like this??
The whole reason why this happened was people who dont understand coding putting unnecessary pressure on @Portisch/CE team to mainline this. And @Portisch being so busy fixing every issue on all boxes mistakenly put pressure on @cpm.
So i ask everyone to stop doing this and let these experts take their time & do their thing and when is ready is ready after all they have a life you know.
@cpm hope that settle this and we can all move forward as a team.
Yes let’s do it. I’m personally a bit tired of this attacks and things won’t end well if this continues. We think cpm did such a great job that he was invited to join the team. Unfortunately he can’t because he has real life stuff that don’t allow him to have the time to do it. Other key devs also had the same problem and are now more on the sidelines. Since the project started we’ve had one main dev completely disappear, one left the project and almost ended it, two others are more on the sidelines almost every time because life is life…
Things will be done when they can be done because everyone has real life stuff to deal with.
So, from now on, anyone that wants to post something helpful to move this forward we appreciate it, more of this “just do it” as it was a one click problem and the thread will be locked permanently.
