Used to have an Odroid N2 in 2020 running Coreelec on a NUC. The NUC died and I drifted to Android Boxes.
I have just bought a Homatics Box R plus intending to run Coreelec. I have an Amazon Fire Cube 3rd Gen which I’m beginning to dislike for lots of reasons.
This is what I’ve tried so far.
Installed ng on a powered 120GB SSD. The OS would load but not play.
Installed ng on a 32GB USB drive and this would install and I was able to use Coreelec , however if I powered off the Homatics Box I would get a grey screen and no CE.
Reinstalled and as long as I kept the box powered all was good. Tried different versions of CE from ne to no but the ng was the only one that would work.
I then tried to pair my Sofabaton x1s with Kodi. This proved to be extremely difficult and eventually I resorted to using a mouse and keyboard.
As this was intended for use by myself and wife ,not having the use of the universal remote ,was not going to suit my wife. I have this working well on the Fire Cube
Eventually I choose to use Kodi 21.2 preinstalled on the Homatics Box with the sofabaton controlling HTS. I will eventually retire the Cube but at the moment I have BBC iplayer installed from my Amazon UK account using a DNS, which my wife would not be happy to lose.
I feel that I should have stuck with CE but using Android TV and projectivity launcher ,which allows me to boot straight into Kodi, makes things easier for she who must be obeyed.
It took me a while to go through all of this, so not user friendly. How you get round this so a lot more can try CE I’m not sure.
Anyway thanks for to everyone who supplied the various posts I used install CE. Perhaps what’s missing for me was an updated installation guide for my box.
