Well well…Was suggested on the odroid forum to try and resolder the hdmi port.
I removed the case to see if my old eyes can see something I can do. There are 2 small “guide pins” on top of the socket, which I assume are meant to hold the hdmi cable tightly into position.
They looked fine, but I pushed/bent them down a tiny bit and now 4K works fine!
I was suggested here to take it to a mobile phone repair shop as well, but it’s hard to tell which one has a decent tech that won’t ruin it.
Anyway…for now this seems to be working properly!
Glad you sorted it out, and that only a poor connection was the problem. One should take care when attaching/detaching HDMI cables as they are much more sensitive than USB cables that we usually connect without any special care…
Well Well DONE
It looks like I spoke too soon.
I got an AVR now, and between all the tests and ARC stuff, somehow kodi recognized the tv as 1080p. On the whitelist it was only showing up to 1080 in the list. So I think it was passing the 4K as 1080 which did work.
I tried to hook the device back to the tv, and now it barely got recognized (on some ports with signal getting lost every few seconds).
Finally connected it back to the AVR and kodi was again showing 4K resolutions.
Empty whitelist: would not play 4K.
Marked 4k in whitelist: would not play 4K
Marked 1080 resolutions in whitelist: 4K plays (I guess downscaled).
My avr is supposedly compatible with all latest formats. However,I’ve had to connecht coreelec straight to TV. Otherwise it all goes a bit mental
I got the VIM3 today and 4K is working perfectly fine on it. It did work on the N2 at the beginning, so I’m hoping it stays that way.
