Absolute n00b: ToX3 (S905X4)

Hello, I am vaguely but not very tech-savvy, but I wanted a player that could handle some very basic DLNA/UPnP tasks that was a bit cheaper than an NVidia Shield, so I bought a ToX3 S905X4 based on various reviews.

Since it arrived last night, I’ve done more research and I’ve become concerned that I’ve really just put a malware vector into my home network and consequently unplugged it.

I’d like to install CoreELEC on this box to get rid of whatever horrors I’ve inadvertentlty paid for.

I’ve read a few threads on the ToX3 that I vaguely understand and I’ve downloaded a few .conf files for the remote, VFD, ethernet and so on, but I’m not sure where to get the ROMs to completely replace whatever compromised version of Android TrustOnX has put on this product. I’m also not sure where/how to install those .conf files.

Sincere apologies if I’m missing anything obvious, but would appreciate any help that can be provided.

P.S. I see that there are links to 4pda.ru for some ROMs, but I’m not sure I trust anything from a .RU site any more than I trust the Android from my AliExpress purchase.

Thank you, unironically.

Read & understand
CE is not android, if You install and run CE You never get in touch with any android apps.

This is fine. I really only want to play stuff off my DLNA server, maybe Samba at a pinch.

Just do it
KODI is able to play stuff from DLNA Server
