Amazon Studio Speakers and new hardware

Hello All,

Please ignore my ignorance, i have been directed here from someone on Reddit, so i am truly hoping you can help me.

I currently have Kodi set up on my FireCube 3, connected to my FC3 i have 2 amazon Studios and a Amazon Sub, this is all connected wirelessly through to Amazon ecosystem.

Now, i have been experiencing a lot of crashes lately, so i really want to get new hardware, but due to the investment i have with amazon, is there an ability to add amazon studio and speakers wirelessly?

I do not really mind what bit of kit i need to buy to do this, just the fact it would work would be amazing

I asked adamosborne83 to come ask on this forum and listed this thread

since I found it relating to Cube 2

and YadaYada is already typing lol
thanks YadaYada

OP also would like to know what would be the best hardware that can pair with his sound system (amazon echo speakers and hub)

I recommended him to get the AM6B+ with CoreELEC, as long as he can pair the sound system to CoreELEC.

The Echo Studios+Sub have to be paired with a Fire TV running FireOS. The new Fire TVs including the 3rd gen Cube can be used as an ARC hub, allowing you to route audio from other devices connected to your TV to the Fire TV and Echo Studios. This is the only possible way to use them with CoreELEC.

In this setup the 3rd gen Cube+Echos would serve as your soundbar, and a second device would run CoreELEC.

With the 3rd gen Cube, you can run the CoreELEC device directly into the HDMI-IN port and the audio will be routed to the Echos.

Yes, i have looked into buying a new device and using HDMI in on the FC3, but, amd trust me there is always a but, i have rooted my fc3, so that makes it harder. I guess i cannot have everything i want and i will need to compromise. Thanks for the advise, ill research more.

so your saying it would work as long as he has both the new hardware running coreelec and uses his original Fire Cube 3 as a hub. so basically he needs them both running, correct?

Yeah, the Cube+Echos are just a fancy soundbar in this setup, and you can route audio from any device attached to the TV through the Echos.

Root has no impact on using the 3rd gen Cube as a soundbar.

thanks for your help, I now understand. You are using the TV as the sound when you connect CoreELEC box to your TV, then the TV sends the sound to the amazon Echo sound system. Would this be a good solution long term? I would think it would consume more power this way. Just thinking running this setup for years would start mounting up in price. Would it be better to sell the sound system and buy a new one (Christmas sales)
and get a CoreELEC box.
What would you do YadaYada if you was in this situation?

Streaming devices aren’t what rack up the electricity bill. Typical Amlogic box consumes 2W/hr, $1-3 a year when left on 24/7. A TV will use 200-300W/hr, air conditioning can be +1000W/hr.

Just having an AC adapter plugged into the wall not powering/charging anything can use a watt or more.

that’s awesome, then it really is fine leaving firecube running

I just learnt adamosborne83 has Samsung 75qn900, a $5100 75” Neo QLED 8K QN900D Smart AI TV (2024)

I advise him to sell the speakers and the fireOS, get the AM6B+ and get the most out of the TV. Or he can send me the TV either way is good
