Amlogic-NO discussion

Thank you but where is this file? The program is only in Russian. Can you help again?

Open main program, click on first tab at top left. On the drop down menu, go to 4th entry (looks like a “spanner” or “monkey wrench” and click on that. On the window that opens, go to the last tab on the right. There is a drop down list where you can change language to “English - United States”.

Thank you so much. Yuo save my day.

You’re welcome. I was having the same issue with the russian. Have now replaced video_ucode.bin and can playback av1 on amlogic-no with hardware acceleration ok.

thanks again. can you post the ucode.bin that you are using now?

It’s version 3.49 from TOX3 S905x4
video_ucode.bin (1.9 MB)

Thank you. I’m going to try.

When packing the image after replacing video_ucode.bin, just select the top level folder that MIK4 created when doing the extract. Folder name should be same as image name.

The program backs up the original image and gives it a “.org” suffix and then replaces the original image.

Hello,

I wonder where I can find the Homatics 4K R version of this?

And where do I paste this file?

Best regards…

I assume you could download the latest image from their website??
You then use the MIK4 program to extract that image and it will create a top level folder in same directory that the image is located. Within that folder there is the video_ucode.bin file. Just copy that file and replace it in the same directory as your target image.

Navigate to “/super/vendor_a/vendor_a/lib/firmware/video” to find the file.

Just did a quick google and found following link to somebody who uploaded the ATV14 version. See post #10 from JuggerBot:-
I am looking for firmware for Homatics TV BOX R 4K | XDA Forums
He has posted a mega link to the firmware. It may be that their firmware is in a “proprietary” format that can only be read by the device itself. In which case, somebody who owns one of these would have to upload the video_ucode.bin from the device itself.

Unlucky. Followed exactly the instructions and replaced in the ugoos firmware the ucode by yours.
Then pack and used the resulting firmware in the Ugoos which worked as expected. But CE gives the usual message that 3.49 is not good for full program working. In other words no difference with the original ugoos firmware 1.2.4. May be that my device Ufgoos X4Q extra has a diffent behaviour? The VC1 do not play at all.

The 3.49 ucode could only ever get AV1 to play properly on S905X4. Not VC1

Yes - the message still appears about version. With CE-22 NO, my (non-TOX3) box was using ucode 3.33 and could not playback AV1 videos (sound only). Once I used the TOX3 version of video_ucode.bin on this box and upgraded to 3.49, it now plays back AV1. I don’t have any VC1 videos. With CE-21 NG, video_ucode 3.33 will playback AV1. Are u using CE21 or CE22?

Do VC1 videos playback under Android on your ugoos?

I use CE22. Never test VC1 in android. Will do.

Do you know if the video_ucode.bin is a standalone file. Can you, for example, take the file from Android 14 image and replace the file in an Android 11 image??

Correct. AV1 play perfectly. VC1 do not play at all. Looking for a ucode higher than 3.49 but no luck.

In Android I have installed the Kodi 22 latest test build and VC1 play with a lot of judder.

Have you considered transcoding the VC1 files to another codec such as HEVC(x265)? Over 95% of my files are HEVC. I have an Intel 11th gen (Tigerlake) PC and the GPU encoding speed and quality is superb. If your VC1 files have a high bitrate, you could maybe convert them to HEVC, save space and keep the same quality. I transcoded a lot of old x264 files to HEVC a few years back. I can’t see any reduction in quality, but I saved around 40-50% space and the GPU encoding to 1080p was about 250 fps - so very fast. I also encoded some 720p files and they were averaging around 400 fps encoding speed.

Or you could try CE 21NG? I currently use that and everything works great.

I have also1 Homatics box R4 plus with CE 22 and there VC1 files play as expected but that box has got Android 12. The problem with Ugoos X4q extra is that they come with Android 11. I have emailed Ugoos customer service asking for the upgrade to android 12 and got no reply. Very bad behaviour. Anyway I will leave VC1 files because hope that sometime a workaround will be found as @YadaYada has promised.

I have the same Homatics box and injected the ucode from the latest firmware I could download into the Vontar X4 firmware. Device did not boot with the new ucode. As many people have suspected, the ucode for different android versions could not be mixed. The ucode for the latest firmware from Homatics box is a lot smaller in size than the 3.49 ucode file
