Appreciation

I have used CE for nearly as many years as it exists.
I have used it on many different devices.
It is still running on a 905W 21.2-Omega with a couple of docker images as well as managing and distributing TV reception throughout the home and to friends in foreign lands, for both DVB-S and DVB-T tuners. There are also a few other, more recent devices, still running CE, to stream and receive those TV channels.

I have not, to date, properly expressed my gratitude to the CE devs for the time and effort they have put into CE. I hope this post will correct that.

Yes my needs are not great, so once a box works I am happy.
I am not constantly chasing the ‘next best thing’ nor complaining when that is not achieved on whatever €40 device I find on line.

I really do appreciate free and open source software such as CE.
I rarely post here, because I have little feedback to give and even less to ask of the developers.

It appears from some posts that the users do not appreciate the “gift” we get.
If you were gifted a car, would you also expect the car to be comparable to a Ferrari? Or would you show appreciation for the gift?

I can only imagine what effect these few people have on the CE developers attitude to continuing the work. IMO they endanger the whole project, as no one can continue gifting their time and expertise, while at the same time receiving complaints that it is not ‘good enough’.

Please do not misunderstand, this is mostly a post of appreciation for CE, with an acknowledgement that some users do not appear to understand the contribution of the developers.
I suspect that most users are happy with their devices and CE operating system so have little or no reason to visit here or post.

I just want to record it here that I do appreciate all that the CE developers do, and also what the developers that came before did, to produce this product and gift it to us all.

Words have meaning, and how a post is worded is important, so if you have a request, please try to ensure it is asked and not demanded. I acknowledge this can be difficult to non-native English speakers, but it needs to be remembered when posting. I fear that this continuous CE gift could be withdrawn if posts get too negative from too many.

So, as the CE devs do not allow monetary contributions, this post is my way of showing my appreciation for the gift I have been given.

Thank you CE devs!

I have had similar thoughts for some time.

My situation resembles yours. Ran into CE years ago when I started a project to replace all hardware my provider insisted should be used.

It has been fantastic.

Kodi, and because I was looking for a low powered solution, CE have given me a lot more than what I was looking for.

I too truly appreciate the efforts put into these projects and hope there’s many more years to come evolving CE. You guys are amazing.

I echo all these comments. There is no question in my mind that the level of responsiveness, “customer satisfaction”, and product quality is far superior to most companies, institutions, and utilities that one has to interact with in daily life!

If I were a CEteam member I would have given up long time ago with so many ungrateful demands and abuse. They are truly unsung heroes.

Much  and wonderful appreciation to all CEteam crew, thank you indeed!

I would like to mirror the thoughts of those above and also like to thank the team who I’m sure give up a lot of their free time to work on these projects.

I know that there is satisfaction from doing this as I have done similar in the past but not in the same field or scope. I also found some people just expected you to fix something or spend time on it urgently as it only mattered to them :frowning: but I sometimes also felt good when I could just ignore the noise. I also understand with language and other cultural differences it can be hard to express in what seems a civil way. Google translate is far from perfect. Especially as the internet makes us all in the same space.

CE has allowed my wife and I to be able to spend hours enjoying our collection of video, music, movies etc like nothing before. I just love my little Android TV boxes (We have 4 of 3 flavours)

Being retired and in our 70’s funds are tight so being able to make a cost effective box such as the TOX3 S905X4 do and our older H96 and X96 keep working and what they can now do is just marvelous  Thanks again CE team

some say another forum is better but they don’t take into account that the other forum is a pro profit business, it’s their job to be nice. CoreELEC is a decade+ open source project with volunteers who do this in their limited free time outside professional an personal life. Also overtime they’ve had to deal with negativity and yet they CoreELEC team still do this. also that other forum has benefitted from the work done here.

Just like to say you’ve made my and my fathers days better for the last 6 years. thankyou
