I have noticed on both my Ugoos AM6B+ units that with Dolby Atmos TrueHD content in specific areas the sound will get choppy for a second or so and wondered if someone else would be able to validate if they experience the same? The example i will give is in Train to Busan at just after 49 minutes where there is a scene of glass being broken my sound will get choppy everytime only when the Korean DolbyAtmos mix is selected from the sound options.
For context, for both my Ugoos units I’m running them to my TV with eARC passthrough to Denon AVR with passthrough enabled on the Ugoos & TV with what i suspect is all the correct settings as the issue i experience is pretty infrequent but enough to be annoying and from my observations it seems to occur mostly, if not exclusively when a loud scene is playing.
I also have been experiencing this same issue. My setup is AM6+ → LG C3 → eARC → LG Soundbar. Audio cuts out randomly and i see the “Dolby TrueHD” popup on TV for a couple seconds. It can last up to 2-3 seconds then goes away. Any help would be appreciated. I’m a noob here as I’ve recently got my unit in the last month. I can provide any data/logs required just not sure what I need to upload.
Thanks for the response. I don’t think this post is exactly relevant to either issues described here though. We both are observing brief audio glitches over eARC with TrueHD, not CEC passthrough issues.
I’m using Sony A95L in both setups, it’s definitely not the tv causing the issue as it passes through Atmos TrueHD from my 4k blu ray player without issue. It’s a Kodi/CoreELEC issue i suspect
Today i tried connecting the ugoos directly to the AVR and so far no audio choppiness on Atmos TrueHD content…so for some reason the A95L is having issues with passing it through despite applying the correct settings
Just to add to my above comment, i was able to fully validate this by playing my ready player one blu ray disc with Atmos TrueHD with the player connected to A95L and passthrough to receiver, i have the same film on my NAS and on both play methods the audio gets choppy in the same scenes so it’s 100% to do with rhe A95L and might be because the HDMI input i use for the AVR has the 4k 120hz VRR option enabled…
There is a known bug in the A95L firmware causing audio dropouts on DTS:X and Atmos on eARC passthrough. This has been fixed in firmware update v112.627.030.1 from November. However for some unknown reason Sony is not rolling this update out in Europe. A lot of Europeans over at the avsforum A95L thread have been urging Sony to act. But no official response so far. I would suggest also contacting your local Sony support to remind them.
Unfortunately, this issue is still present after the latest A95L firmware update v112.631.085.1.
Albeit very noticeably less frequent. So for sure the update did have a positive effect.
I do have a feeling that something in CoreElec and/or Kodi also might be partially related to this bug. Since I could not reproduce the dropouts when bitstreaming the affected files from a Windows laptop instead of my AM6B+.
A couple hours ago I described this in detail in a newly created topic. But for some unknown reason, the topic was flagged as inappropriate and removed from the forum. There was no explanation as to why, and I don’t seem to have capabilities to PM a moderator to ask for details.
So if anyone from the mod team reads this. Could you please explain what I should be doing differently? My topic was made with the best intentions. English is not my first language, and I do apologize if I maybe didn’t use the correct phrasing?
It wasn’t removed, it was just moved to here.
Your setup isn’t based on CE release, therefore no support to be expected here.
Please ask for support where you downloaded that release (and good practice to attach a logfile).
