AVL6862 Multistream DVB-S2X and KI Pro

Hello,

i am planing to buy an CE compatible DVB-S2 device with Multistream support. As far as i read the Mecool ki pro has an AVL6862 tuner and the drivers were pulled off from “Edision OS mini +” which is a FullHD Sat-Receiver, not advertised with Multistream and DVB-S2X compatibility.
However the newer Edision OS Mio 4k also has an AVL6862 tuner build in, and is advertised with Multistream and DVB-S2X support.
So does the KI Pro support Multistream and DVB-S2X? If not, can the drivers pulled off from the Mio 4k?

Regards,

I have a KIII Pro with AVL6862 tuner and I do not understand what you are saying. My device has a single DVB-T/T2, DVB-S/S2, DVB-C and ATSC-C multiple tuner. This means that if tvheadend server is using the DVB-S/S2 tuner this can not use DVB-T/T2 at the same time. Neither can you use several mux (of different frequency) at the same time. What you can do is simultaneously see several different channels within the same mux.

Regarding DVB-S2X I’m not sure what it means but I do not have any problem to watch 4K satellite channels.

If you are looking for the latest in technology, KI Pro is not the best option.

Does this answer your question?

Note.- I have read the manufacturer of the devices KI Pro, KII Pro, and KIII Pro, has changed the DVB hardware drivers in the new devices for which there are still no software drivers in CoreELEC, LibreELEC, etc. In fact the new android firmware of KIII Pro 2018/12/21 does not recognize my somewhat older satellite tuner, and the software drivers are different. Confirm this in other sources.

Thanks for your reply, but that does not answer my questions.
DVB-S2X is an extension of DVB-S2, being more efficient for UHD channels and likely to be used in the future.
Multistream is not necessarily new, but only a few tuner can handle multistream channels. Some channels on 5W like Rai1HD run Free-to-Air broadcasting Champions-League.
The question is, since the Edision Mio 4k with the same tuner chipset can handle it, can the KI Pro do it aswell?

I think you’re in the wrong forum

The TVheadend server included in the CE repo supports multistream. Maybe our dvb guru @afl1 could answer, if the drivers are supporting it.

But dvb-s2x seems to be problematic in Linux in general:

Although this is a quite old thread, there doesn’t seem to be a solution until now.
