Banned Addon, no DV

If I knew how to do python I don’t think I would be asking for help on here, I’m coming from a humble setup of Kodi on an Xbox series X and this forum suggested that setup on the AM6B+ to get DV was straightforward but so far it’s been far from that

Because you should use the guide how to install BUT make a clean, fresh install and try again WITHOUT any user customization. We are not here to debug your faulty user settings. Is it that hard to follow rules to get support?

Steps I followed to make clean install

  1. Connect the USB Storage to your PC and open Balena Etcher
  2. Select the CoreELEC’s image file - used the most recent ng nightly generic.
  3. Select the USB Storage that you want to use, proceed with the installation and make sure that it will complete successfully.
  4. Open the COREELEC partition, navigate to “device_trees” folder
  5. Copy the appropriate dtb file, e.g. g12b_s922x_ugoos_am6b.dtb file to the root of your COREELEC partition. Then, rename it dtb.img
  6. Copy dovi.ko to the root of your COREELEC flash drive.
  7. Copy remote.conf to the root of your COREELEC flash drive.
  8. Safely remove the USB drive from your PC

Which section there suggests an unclean install or any sort of user customisation? Is it the dovi.ko file?

Is it so hard to read and need to ask again and again?
https://wiki.coreelec.org/coreelec:devgeneric#installation

Right will check that now, so it was the dovi file, again could have said that earlier instead of just telling me to do a clean install.

If the guide I linked earlier is the guide that’s available for am6b+ I’m obviously going to be using that one and would assume that’s how you do a clean install.

Will try as soon as I get the time.

Here is the log of a clean install of CoreELEC with most recent nightly-ng on Am6b+ with speed test addon run.

Still the same problem of receiving ping data but stuck on please wait loading screen for download and upload.

Use another addon, this one is broken:

You are using old speedtester v.1.1.2
Use latest v.1.1.3 from here

Thanks, that worked!

Right so just did speed test and got the following:

Should be more than enough to stream any file so can’t be a wi-fi issue for why DV is buffering

Because you used banned addon? Or DNS issues on your side? Or wrong user advanced cache settings…
Did you even now tried again WITHOUT any modification?

If I’m only going to be streaming DV files through the ‘banned addon’ and you’re saying you want me to test ‘without modification’, how exactly am I meant to test?

How would I know if this is the issue and how would fix?

What settings should I use?

And you still want support?

Does local DV file playback work or not. If it works then there is nothing to do. In this case banned addon is the reason for your troubles. And you will not get help for it here.

I mean I’m sure there are plenty of people in this forum who are using banned addons to stream. Understand that this forum doesn’t offer support for this but there’s no point in acting like that’s not the case.

I don’t have a local DV file and I also don’t use Plex to play a DV file anyway.

There is no support.
Accept it pls
Streaming using banned addons is not legal

You’re being especially difficult.

Plex has nothing to do with this, why even bring that up? You say you have DV issues… So first test on a local DV file and see if that problem still exists. That is the very first thing recommended to you and you still refuse to do it.

If local playback works then you know the problem is elsewhere. Maybe your connection isn’t up to scratch, so test with a wired connection, etc. Maybe your host has bad upload, who knows

You’re right, plenty of people here I’m sure are using ‘banned’ add-ons, but they’re not asking for help are they?

I’m literally not trying to be difficult, as a newbie I just was confused as to why my setup was working with Dolby on the first day and then struggled from the day after even though my internet speeds were fine. Not everyone is well versed in this sort of stuff, any decent forum should be well accustomed to what may seem a stupid question but none the less happy to help if they can, that’s what it’s there for after all.

Instead I’ve been met with pompous Reddit-esque responses.

I assumed plex is used to play local files as I’ve never played a local file on Kodi before, so apologies for the crime of not knowing. Also again, DV was working fine on first day of setup so I knew that it worked, thus no need to check a local file, that wasn’t the issue. This issue was when it randomly stopped working.

At no point was I asking for help with banned add ons, I knew it was something to do with settings in Coreelec/Kodi itself. I have now changed some caching settings and that’s seems to have fixed my issues for now. Haven’t had one suggestion of anything to do with settings though…

No support means no support. No suggestions, nothing. If you think this is like Reddit, use Reddit.

Again, didn’t ask for support with the banned addon

I suggested it may be an issue with Kodi settings, which low and behold it was so nothing to do with addon but everything to do with what this forum does support which is the CoreELEC Kodi nightly.

You got exactly the responses that your stubbornness deserved, no more no less.
