Ah sod it
I saw an Ugoos SK4 on Ali and realised it was a-J therefore good for DV. I thought why not for that price given its an S7D and so should last me a looooong time
Donāt know if you need this, but the SK4 has:
USB 2.0 (Not 3.0)
100M LAN (Not Gigabit LAN)
Neither terribly important. However, it does appear to have a physical usb c port? [Edit] Just checked the boot log and can see 4 buses initialised; 2 USB2 with one physical port each and 2 USB3 with no physical ports. So the picture must be wrong. No biggie for me but a bit of a shock for some buyers Iād imagine[/Edit]
This is my lounge box and so wonāt be streaming the full 4k Blu-ray images. Even if it did, the WiFi mesh is more than capable in that room as long as the wifi6 drivers can cope. My aging iPad manages 350mbps
Iād be most interested in knowing if it can have coreelec written to the Emmc. I assume the dev team get samples of all Ugoos kit?
FWIW my media room box is a Zidoo z9x and Iām thinking that the AM9 Pro @Portisch mentioned will be its eventual successor
Hello,
I currently have an HK1 s905x4 camera, but it doesnāt really support HDR. Are there any cameras under ā¬100 that support HDR formats?
By Camera I assume you mean Amlogic TV box?
My 2 Tox3 both cost less then $100au each and support HDR.
In CE all s905x4 STBs support HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG. What do you mean by yours not really supporting HDR? Does your television support HDR?
Hi guys, about to purchase a 2nd CE Box in addition to my AM6 Plus (which I am very happy with!). Dolby Vision is not relevant to me but ability to playback legacy MPEG2 (1080i & p) & VC-1 (23.976 progressive & 29.970 interlaced) definitely is. I would consider a 2nd AM6 Plus but as NG is EOL I am wondering if it is a future proof choice (or does it also run newer CE variants even though w/o FEL?) so I am tempting to AM8 or SK1. For the latter I have a chance to get it for an relatively fair price used but almost new. What is the current status on SK1? Is CE matured on it? Any issues I should know? Important to me to get it out of deep standby (which hopefully is <1W?) with the remote control - it shall replace old Vero 4K which does not). Any better alternative you could recommend? Thanks!
Todayās recommendations are SK4 or AM9 Pro, both DV. X96 X5M, no DV.
SoC S7D, S905X5M or later.
CoreELEC-22:
All other projects are EOL.
SK4 = https://pl.aliexpress.com/item/1005010263503040.html#nav-specification https://www.ugoos.com/ugoos-sk4-amlogic-dolby-vision-tv-box ?
@Portisch Thanks for the hint! S905X5M looks promising and a perfect fit for my purpose. However, the Ugoos SK4 only has 100Mbit Ethernet - what a bummer! The AM9Pro has 1Gbit, though and the X96 M300, too. According to the page you linked S905X5M is solely supported by 22.0 NO which is still Alpha so not yet matured? On the other hand the download helper for 21.3 offers (generic) image for X96 M300⦠Is Wiki page āSupported Devicesā outdated? It does not list Ugoos SK1 but download helper offers dedicated image for this model.
Seems that both S922 as well as S928 are also listed for NO so these SOCs are still future proof arenāt they?
Forget the Download Helper. At the top of page click on Home
icon.Then tab top right /Download.
Or use github link
Also take a look at the X96X10 PRO S928X-J
This is Excellent with CoreELEC 22 latest nightly, Daily Driver since purchase.
Also no Box is Future Proofā¦.
Thanks for the hint, but that goldish box is not going into my living room. ![]()
Iām currently using a rather aging Beelink GT King with an S922X processor from Coreelec NO. Is it worth upgrading to the Ugoos SK4 or X96 M300 or X96X10 PRO S928X-J? Iāll only be using Coreelec hardware. Any advice? The AM9 Pro is beyond my budget.
If you donāt want Dolby Vision or AV1 video decoder, you donāt need to change it yet.
Thanks @Portisch
Yes - I would like to use AV1. I donāt know if there will be better performance in other places.
Within your budget, choose the one that supports CoreELEC and has the latest SOC version.
so? - which one is better?
My recommendation between the two is the X96X10 PRO S928X-J.
Note: The X96 M300 works with Netflix in 1080p.In addition, some Android applications work the same way.
X96X10 PRO S928X-J Product of the same company
Is that because the hardware is fully supported now?
Compared to the s905x5 and s905x5j which is still in alpha?
