I dont see the point into buying such expensive boxes where FEL doesnt work. Literally everyone should care only about FEL. VC-1 is not needed. 8GB RAM for CE, seriously? VS-10 is also not wanted.
I dont like how CE has gotten mainstream and not geeky-like or technical anymore. This is pure manipulation in my eyes because we dont need and/or request support after we flash anything. Since its the same chip as in Homatics and I already have 2x working USB gigabit adapters on CE, it should just work. If wifi6 will be working, its even better and easier. And as long as its working once, it can be blocked on networking level and used forever like this with only NFS/SMB allowed and never updated.

That is absolutely amazing that your library ONLY consist of videos encoded with Dolby Vision with FEL. NOT even a BlueRay rip. That is truly amazing.

Was under $100 when purchased
Went for the 8 gig instead of upgrading Remote Control.
Both were an extra $ 20
Also was reported better chance at success Dolby Vision Playback.

What you are steering towards is a need highlighted in threads that started with “best device” and ended with “201x”.

I was referring to whether dovi.ko module would work with Android Vendor firmware

Again, this is the manipulation for someone that doesnt lurk on these forums I was talking about. I read 2000+ posts just yesterday before I could come up with those questions above, which are the only real differential points one should know before buying something in 2025. 2000+ posts only because 99% people are learning linux and basically what a RJ45 connector looks like. And your statement is one example of this where you are throwing word salad about incomplete DV…

Im not being negative. Im constructively describing something in a conversation and this is again a manipulation. Thread started Sep 1, 2024 11:26 and first post mentions FEL everywhere and is the main differentiator. Those that do not have a DV TV are not researching what to buy in 2025 and are satisfied with old S905X4 for 40€.
I wanted to also mention manipulations about support. Alot about anything anyone mentions, gets sent to Kodi forums. On Kodi forums if you dare mentioning you are running CE, you get sent back. You are stuck. If you push it, you get sent to the manufacturer. There is no support in CE or with any kind of project like this. You are on your own. Its an open source project with what appears to be some marketing interests rising ever so slightly more and more the past few years.

I went back and saw that I did not emphasize FEL. I thought we all only wanted the same thing, which is FEL, and I guess Im wrong. Im sorry.
I decided back then I was going for 2x G1. From my understanding, a chromecast with Kodi and a G1 with CE, should both playback everything possible so its everything everyone needs and nothing else. Maybe another old S905/W for VC-1 or just transcode old VC-1 libraries to AV1 and save some space.
Those without DV TV, a chromecast with Kodi is possibly everything he needs! Maybe another S905X4 with CE for 40€ if HDR modes dont get passed through correctly.
And ofcourse, for someone who is not a geek, chromecast and AM6B+ is the best choice. But again I dont believe in support. Its just that convenience that you get with AM6B+ for installing CE and possibly unknown stuff that is at the moment broken and will get fixed possibly only on AM6B+. And I dont believe (correct me if im wrong) that an Android (for streaming apps) on any other device except a Chromecast will work flawlessly for years down the line.

You are very wrong to believe that. There are MANY Android boxes apart from Chromecast that work and will work “flawlessly” same or better than Ccast.

My set up is a FireCube 3 which I am very heavily in amazon eco system, as this device is connected to 2 fire studios and amazon sub. As give me a wireless surround sound set up and I am happy with it.
I have a large movie library, around 6000 movies… don’t ask I love my movies
so these are all set up using Movie Database Python to scrape.
Every time I try to play a movie or possibly change artwork the device crashes.I have narrowed this down to RAM, as it plays fine on the FireCube 2 that I also have.
I know both have 2gb RAM but the FC3 uses more RAM in background, so therefore just crashing out.I would love to somehow get the FC3 to work, but failing that, I was thinking of using the FC3 HDMI input to connect a new box to it, that will then allow me to utilise my Fire Surround Spund System.
I have purchased a Pi5 8gb RAM, with 256 harddrive, my intent was to install android on it, then just use Wolf Launcher to give it sex appeal.
But, I did fall in love with SK1 last night.
