Best device for Coreelec in 2025

Is there a difference in image quality in CoreElec between the S905X2, S905X3, S905X4, S922x, and S928X processors (without considering DV)?

I’m asking this because I felt like I had better image quality, especially better colors, when playing my videos with Android apps on a TV box with an S922X (and even some Realtek SoCs), rather than an S905X2 or X3.

But is it the same on CoreElec? Or does the SoC have no impact on image quality and colors?

since i want mkv fel 7 playback and it seems that only ugoos am6b+ is the only capable device… but i ve read this for Ugoos:

However, the lack of native Dolby Vision hardware decoding means it cannot achieve the same dynamic metadata adjustments as true DV-capable devices.

also this:
For DV Profile 7 (dual-layer DV, used in UHD Blu-ray rips), CoreELEC typically defaults to HDR10 playback instead of true Dolby Vision.
The playback quality is still excellent for HDR content, but it won’t match the full Dolby Vision experience provided by certified devices.

so the playback in ugoos is inferior to apple tv in playing back dv files?

The am6b+ supports DV.

It’s not very hard to find the information you seek in this forum so I’m not sure where you are reading that . The AM6B+ supports DV FEL. There are other devices too that supports it.

See YadaYada’s excellent post here:
CE-NG Dolby Vision (+FEL) for DV-licensed SOCs (s905x2, s922x/z, s905x4) - Development / Development & Testing - CoreELEC Forums

all those info come from perplexity.ai.

made the quetion, if the quality of the DV playback in ugoos is equivalent to apple tv (with infuse).

perplexity wrote all those info for ugoos:

the am6b+ will do better than crapple ever could with DV. Shield crapple roku etc only support the MEL version of profile 7. the am6b+ and other devices listed in the thread support fll FEL profile 7.

Honestly if you can swing it buy 2, i know im buying another one for christmas. Since once these are all dead and gone i dont know if we’ll ever get another device that supports full FEL profile 7… maybe some day in like 20 years once patents expire but not soon.

And again, why not search this forum first instead of asking some silly AI website?

I just told you the AM6B+ and other devices support DV FEL. They do not default to HDR10 if you have a DV capable TV. Again, go read the thread I linked to instead.

haha exactly what I was going to say, WTF asks AI for this kind of stuff? people have really gotten lazy since this shit AI happened.

Hahaha, your AI is too stupid for such difficult and complex question. Correct info about AM6B+ DV P7-FEL possibilities is only found on this forum, where it was originally developed by CE Team.
So, read this forum and don’t trust stupid AI algorithms

Thanks for the suggestion, the TX5 doesn’t seem to be available anymore but there are plenty of other Tanix boxes. I’ll take a look.

i asked about quality… not if it supports…
you will make me buy a ugoos then put it side by side with apple tv for testing

You need read reset9999 test sheets for the accurate infos.

You are welcome!!
These Boxes are discontinued

Maybe will have better luck locally at the Bazaar/Flea Market/Second Hand store

Can usually find for under $10 /$20

Yes, and you got the answer that DV P7-MEL (on inferior devices) is better that DV P7-FEL on AM6B+, of which your AI isn’t even aware of. Very good answer

Gee. Could you please give some examples? Thanks.

thank you for the link…
also watched the you tube video that compares players…

its not my AI

will get the ugoos and see how it fares

Reading through all you wrote, I was somehow sure it was yours
