I use my Dune HD Homatics with Coreelec 21.3. I usually spend weeks without booting Android and Dune HD app.
Today I decided to restart my device using the option restart in the Kodi menu, boot from Nand option and it booted Android without problems while my pendrive with Coreelec and my media files was plugged.
Then I got a prompt to update Dune HD to the last version. I said Yes and it updated it. No problem here.
Then, some minutes later I got a new prompt: On the OTA update. I got surprised. I didn’t remove the pendrive. The device restarted with the pendrive with Coreelec plugged, and it never completed the update to Android 14.
With the Coreelec pendrive plugged, it enters and infinite loop, with the homatics logo and the screen turning black.
Without the pendrive it starts the Homatics logo and after some minutes a black screen with Android, and then it stays there forever.
I found in reddit the v14.8.7475 firmware. The SHA256 hash of the zip file is f166166c0db93ace6e7a299c2aba653e3bfe2ebbe975b2f0354bf0f84bdc3fa9
I tried to update manually plugging a different pendrive, formated in FAT32, with the Android TV14 firmware renamed as update.zip, pushing the reset button with a paperclip and connecting the electric cord but without success. I get the message “Fastboot. Press RESET again to enter Recovery Mode” and after pushing reset I get a screen that says “Loading Recovery” that can stay for hours.
If instead, with the pendrive with the update plugged, I push reset, plug the electric cord and keep the reset button pressed I get a message that says “Burning USB”
And seconds later the Homatics Logo. And a bit after the “Android” word in the middle of the screen and stays there forever. That is the same as when I try to start normally the device without any pendrive.
So, after my too long introduction. What I have made wrong? How I can fix it? Did I lose the warranty when I installed Coreelec?
No, of course not. It’s a failed update. You should search for the right Amlogic burning tool and flash the device with the firmware of your choice and take it from there. Search with Google, AI or whatever you like.
The second answer, from this person with the impossible nickname, did the trick.
I installed the Android TV 14. It works like a charm.
Now I need to install the Dune HD app. Wait for the OTA update to the last Android TV 14 version. And after I will need to reinstall Coreelect 21.3.
Question, my pendrive with Coreelec, my KODI configuration and my videos is intact. How I do need to proceed so nothing of that is lost?
And thanks for the help. I has been seven hours quite “intense” since the update failure.
Everything that isn’t Generic to CE, i.e. your files, are in the Storage partition on the pen drive.
Copy those to a PC for a backup, zip won’t save much space but might make it easier.
If you’re confident all of the artwork in Kodi can be re-downloaded automatically by Kodi you can save by skipping Thumbnails (and with it Textures.db), down side Kodi navigation will be slower until the cache is fully rebuilt.
I am unable to install Coreelec 21.3.
I used a different pendrive to burn the ne image with Balenaetcher. Plugged in the usb port, reset button pressed with paperclip, turned the device pluggin the electric cord and it failed to start CoreElec. I got an infinite loop but removing the pendrive was enough to Android 14 to boot normally.
Then, after reading here about a similar case, I flashed a different image, the ng 21.3.
No luck either. The error is different. It loads the Homatics logo, and then instead of appear the CoreElec logo I get a white screen, forever.
If I remove the pendrive, the device boots in Android 14.
Should I try Coreelec 22 alpha3? the no version?
Thanks
EDIT 1:
Flashed the no (new order) generic version 22alpha3 and it worked. I flashed it in a USB 4GB pendrive.
Now, my old Coreelec 21.3 is installed in a 250 GB USB 3 pendrive. It includes 200 GB of media.
Copying those 200 GB to an external hard disk drive. Flashing Coreelec 22alpha3 there, copying back the 200 GB is a hassle. Ideas?
I understand that the configuration i had there is lost and that i need to reinstall all the add-ons too.
EDIT 2:
I did a backup of the STORAGE partition on my old 21.3 CE, in the 250 GB USB3 pendrive. Then I deleted the contents of the COREELEC and STORAGE partitions. Then I replaced them with the contents in the partitions COREELEC and STORAGE of the 4 GB USB2 pendrive.
And it works.
I have the backup of the old STORAGE partition with the CE 21.3. I guess that currently it is useless and that I need to install all the addons and configure 22.0alpha3 from zero?
