Broader support for DV using 'open' capabiltiies in the future for Amlogic vendor kernel/uboot specific

This past DevCon 2025 from Tirana in Albania had a good percentage of interest in this objective, and from some of the fist bumps, it’s clear there is some resolve. Video minutes where recorded, but I’m uncertain if these are available to the general public but there is some consensus so stay tuned.

I thought this is related to a different issue where I asked chewitt in LibreELEC forum and his reply

IIRC the DevCon discussion was about work done by OSMC to implement broader support for DV using ‘open’ capabiltiies and thus avoid the need for closed-source dovi blobs and DV license fees. That work proves it can be done but isn’t easily transferred to other hardware platforms as it’s all Amlogic vendor kernel/uboot specific.

anyone know anything about this ? what could this mean? we can get DV (MEL and/or FEL?) in the future on all AMlogic devices? work being done on this? THX

Nothing about Amlogic.

Amlogic do sell chips with DV support.
If you want it buy one, if not then don’t.

Open source media centre is not CSMC. Closed source. CE is open source.
