Can I exit Emulationstation and use the Linux desktop？ Sometimes I want to do simple office work in coreelec。 (E.g. vncview, offices, pdf)

No, CoreELEC is a head less Linux distribution only for Kodi. There does no desktop exist at all.

If you would rather have a Linux desktop computer and still be able to use kodi on your TV Box, then perhaps contemplate to install uBuntu (preferably on a USB memory stick).

TBH, I don’t have an answer to your question since I have never done it. However, you can do a google search and find the ubuntu discussion forum to find out more.

BTW, I am contemplating to get some of inexpensive Android TV Boxes with an 8 GB RAM + at least one USB3 port to turn it into a Linux desktop computer (using ubuntu) with a 55" 4K LED TV set as a display.
