Most CE-supported S905X4-K boxes (Homatics Box R 4K, RockTek G3, Nokia 8010) seem to be lacking a IR receiver that allows for wakeup. See a summary here:
So out of the box a wakeup using the remote control is not possible?
I cannot imagine that any streamer box is sold that cannot be woken up using the remote control.
What is the actual situation for the aformentioned devices running Android (A):
(A1) The box can be woken up using the remote, because it actually has an IR receiver and the remote is a IR/BT hybrid remote.
(A2) The box can be “turned on” using the BT remote, but the box is never really turned off. The power-off button just makes the box enter a low-power slow CPU mode.
Finally, if we have the case of (A2) here, would it be possible to retrofit wakeup by adding a FLIRC to the USB2 port and FLIRC would keep to be powered (actually emulating a keyboard, so woudl be wakeup by pressing a key).
The device is never truly turned off since something needs to be power to read the remote. FLIRC is just a stupid way of using USB-HID to read other remotes when you can just by a USB-HID remote.
The only CE way is with bl301 injection on the few devices that support it, try a forum search. Newer Amlogic devices seem to have something equivalent for BT in the bootloader but AFAIK CE doesn’t support that.
I don’t know. I think I have seen some BIOS that allows starting the machine when a key is pressed on the keyboard. But I guess that is an entirely different story than a S905X4.
