Can't boot Amlogic-ng or Amlogic-no on Khadas VIM3

Hi all, I used to run 20.0 on my VIM3, installed via oowow, then used HAOS on the board for a while. I would like to install CE again, however there’s no oowow image for 21.0, and neither for the exciting amlogic-no nightly build.

I have flashed mainline u-boot on the eMMC, prepared 2 SD cards with both amlogic-ng and amlogic-no images, copied the right dtb, but the VIM fails to boot any of these. I also tried flashing USB drives, same result. I tried flashing android on the eMMC but that doesn’t let me boot CE either.

I can boot Armbian just fine from SD or USB, that I flashed the exact same way. Is anyone able to run CE on the VIM3?

1. Mainline is not supported by Amlogic boot system.
2. Flash Android on eMMC and press and hold the upgrade key while uSD or USB with CE is insert.
3. Make UART log if still not working

Amlogic-no is booting now, not sure what went wrong before with the installed android. I don’t even need to hold any button, CE boots whenever the SD card is inserted. Will wait for the stable release before I install to the eMMC. Thanks!
