CE 22 HDD does not show

I would like to report an issue regarding HDD detection on CoreELEC.

While using CE21, I had no problems accessing my external HDD and all the content stored on it. However, after upgrading to CE22, the HDD no longer appears in the system.

The strange thing is:

  • The HDD works perfectly fine on my laptop.
  • It is also detected normally when I boot back into CE21.
  • In CE22, when I unplug the HDD, I get a “drive disconnected” notification.
  • But while the HDD is plugged in, it does not show up or mount at all.

I have already tried different CE22 versions/releases, but the problem still persists.

Could this be a bug, driver issue, or mounting problem in CE22? Please look into this and resolve it ASAP, as everything was working correctly on CE21.

If NTFS partition is used then attach it to Windows and force check disk.

There is nothing to resolve by corelec devs.

I have had this problem since the beginning of CE22. I checked the HDD multiple times on my laptop, CE21, and Amazon Cube, and it is detected fine everywhere.

However, when I connect it to CE22, it does not show up at all. The strange thing is that when I disconnect the HDD, CE22 shows a “drive disconnected” message, which means it somehow detects it.

I tested again on CE21, and the HDD works perfectly fine there. So the issue seems to be specific to CE22.

No.

HDD are working in CE 22. I´m using a few HDD´s

The problem is NTFS

My other HDD works . I ll have check it . So , If its NTFS it does not detect?

Unfortunately, you are resistant to advice. Good luck.

Post log after reboot when disk is attached but not visible.

dmesg | paste
jounrnalctl -l | paste

Can you please tell me how can i get the logs I have never done this before.
I just checked HDD is NTFS. my other HDD is Exfat which is showing. I did not bother before as I was using CE21. I noticed CE 22 is better in HDMI handshake as compared to 21.

I have this same issue that I have posted several times. CE22 only see’s 3 of my 6 NTFS drives that is directly connected be USB type C to the 3.0 USB port on my AM9 Pro. No matter what usb port I connect the powered enclouser to , only 3 drives are reported in “file manager”.

My AM6B+, Dune HD Pro One 8K and Vero V see ALL 6 drives in file manager. I’m too being ignored by CoreElec dev’s.

I also connected the enclosure to a windows 11 machine and no errors were reported.

And how to help you? I’m sure the problem is with NTFS partition. And nobody do provide debug information requested!

Of course if you post same logs as I requested above I can confirm this or deny. I could be wrong but without any extra info no one can tell.

Just search the forum back few days when user had same issue and it was fixed by windows by forcing disk check.

It was already determined in the main CE22-NO thread that CE22 does not like NTFS disks that have the dirty flag set.

To fix this, connect the disk to a Windows machine and run “chkdsk /f” against it from a command prompt. Then connect it back to your CE box.

So hard to read the f. manual?

thank you , the chkdsk fixed my issue. Thanks again

Good news. Maybe reading the replies helps? Also, last week I had to loose some time moving data around so a 2TB drive could be formatted to EXT4, from NTFS.

I wish to provide debug but I don’t know how exactly do have to extract debug and post here. I am not very much expert. I need to know step by step.

I think you already have a solution few posts back.

@vpeter I tried to force check it but issue still there. It is 6 tb HDD I don’t want to format. It works fine with CE21 , Amazon Cube and PC
I got one more issue . Should I post here or make another thread for that topic. If that issue resolves I don’t need to move to CE 22

No log, no problem !
