CE and N2+ not passing HDR10+

The settings should be default. You ssh into the machine, run dmesg|paste and post here the link you get.

Can you play the HDR video and run dispinfo and paste the link here?

Well, still no luck with HDR10+ on my side…

I tested both 14/12 and 14/16 nightlies (fresh installs every time), no sign of the HDR10+ logo displayed on the TV.
Vasco, what TV brand do you have ? I doubt it’s a Samsung issue as the HDR10+ logo is visible when I play HDR10+ files on the Apple TV.

Mine is a Hisense TV.

Could it be linked to the new Linux Kernel ?
I’m still on 4.9.269

No, HDR10+ works for a long time, the only difference between kernels is that in ng it shows only on the tv and not on Kodi’s display info

HDR10+ information does not appear in the displayinfo of Samsung TV’s.It only gives a warning in the first transition

I tested with CE 9.2.8 just now and the HDR10+ logo is displayed on the TV (I was quite sure it used to work with this version…)

It just doesn’t show up on any newer CE version for me…

Smart mode selection and manule selection was made on Samsung TV.

I found something interesting…

In CE 9.2.8, if I set the “Tone Map HDR to SDR” option to “Off”, I lose the HDR10+ logo on the Samsung TV (on HDR10+ content of course). HDR10/10+ content is still displayed in HDR though.

If I set it to “Auto” (which is the default setting), the HDR10+ logo on the TV comes back whenever HDR10+ files are played.

I tried with CE20 RC1 but it can only be set to ON or OFF. Either way, I don’t see the HDR10+ logo on the TV.

Any idea ?

Since my TV is HDR capable, I always thought these two options (SDR2HDR and HDR2SDR) should be switched off…

What tv do you have, Vizio? Does it have the option to turn extended HDMI (the name may differ)

There’s a big change since the last few months. That part of settings could be a bit tricky. All should be in auto before and now it’s switched off. You can check the colour depth part and other settings there.

I ran dispinfo from CE Matrix (no HDR+ logo on the TV) :

And from CE 9.2.8 where everything is OK (as long as HDR2SDR is set to Auto) :

I’ll stick with 9.2.8 for now…

Yes, it is a Vizio TV. I am not sure what settings you are referring to, but it has limited settings. See the photos.

You have some options there in HDMI, try to change them to see if it changes anything. You have to find the correct HDMI mode.

Check this:

You are an absolute genius:grinning:
Using the information that you provided, I was able to set the correct setting on my Vizio TV.

Now, my TV displays the correct mode, HDR10.
Thank you.

I’m happy you were able to get it done! Enjoy HDR :grinning:

Is there any way to replicate your settings ?
How do you explain HDR10+ works for you on CE20 and not for me ?

With a CE20 fresh install and without changing any setting, no HDR10+ at all.
With 9.2.8 fresh install without changing any setting, it works.
