I assume you talk about CE-NG right?
You sir, absolutely ROCK !!!
This setting did the trick. Iâll take some time to dig into the forum to see what this is doing for my own culture.
SystemInfo â Video now shows back HDR10+ and DolbyVision. I quickly tested the BL_EL
video and I see the lady in the background and also FEL TEST ST DL P7 CMV4.0 4000nits V3.mp4
which also states that the system supports FEL.
Thank you very much again! I really wish there was some kind of way to put some donation to compensate for all the amazing work put up by the CoreELEC team through all the releases.
Run
fw_setenv hdr_priority 0
and reboot.
Could you explain how this fixed it?
Would this step be needed after a fresh install or Android update?
It will be disabled one day because this flag is used only by Android, not CE.
Just out of curiosity, why is this needed on this specific Homatics box?
It seems like @boxr4k is about the only person in the world who had this problem
I took some time to make some more tests and investigate a bit. Besides now having DV fully working, the only changed thing I noticed in behavior is the boot splash of the DuneHD. When powered up, thereâs the white screen with the Homatics logo. By default, this splash screen displays in HDR mode (PQ) and stays that way if you boot up Android. When using CE, the TV switches back to SDR mode right before displaying the CE splash screen and proceed to Kodi.
Setting hdr_priority 0
made the Homatics splash screen display as SDR whether I boot CE-NE or CE-NG. This is the only noticeable change I could spot.
CE-NE uses kernel 5.4.x and uses the Android provided dovi.ko directly. CE-NG uses an older kernel 4.9.x and a user supplied dovi.ko.
My (wild) guess is that the combination of my TV with the older kernel triggers a corner case EDID parsing bug because HDR display is initialized by the boot splash before the detection process. Maybe this EDID parsing bug is âfixedâ in newer kernels, hence the need to unset the boot splash HDR mode in the Homatics firmware in order to properly detect DV and HDR10+ in the older kernel.
And believe me, for once, being unique wasnât a nice spot Everybody else was enjoying a fully featured CE-NG while I was left far behind. But the CoreELEC team have wizards powerful enough to fix quite everything !
After fiddling a bit with CE-NG I managed to configure it exactly as CE-NE was and everything works as before except of course DV 7 FEL which is now fully supported, amazing
The only issue I faced was with a systemd (auto)mount service which was failing every time with a not so helpful permission denied
error message. CE-NG must be using an older version of mount.cifs and/or Samba libs because I had to downgrade the mount option vers=3.11
to vers=3.02
to mount my share.
Not the only one, you can try to find the Android setting what enable this DV/HDR cut off.
i have started to have the same problem lg c3 and harmonics box not showing DV it was working fine a couple of weeks ago
can you tell me where i need to set this fw_setenv hdr_priority 0
i can access the box via samba
You need to connect to your box with SSH. In Windows you can use a program like Putty, or with PowerShell:
ssh root@<IP address of your box>
(default password is âcoreelecâ)
thanks i have used putty before
once loged on do i just run fw_setenv hdr_priority 0
and reboot.
i followed the instructions with the ssh unfortunately i still get the same result
DV is not playing correctly
if i turn on use player led in the settings
the film plays correctly but the tv dose not show the pop up for DV
so i am not sure if this is showing DV properly or falling back to some other format
A post was merged into an existing topic: Homatics Box R 4K Plus
Do you only see the âturn on use player led in the settingsâ IF you are using a tv with DV.
Can you get this menu on a new Samsung without DV but with HDR 10.
I tried but dont get this menu.
I do get the message after instal that DV will be played in HDR10 but it doesnt happen. TOX3 S905x4
I am having a similar problem that box4kr was having. Dune Homatics Box 4k.
I get DV from my shield, firetv and appletv. I get DV from the android side of the homatics. I have switched cables and inputs. I can not get DV from the ng version of Coreelec.

The Rx donât support DolbyVision
I tried the command fw_setenv hdr_priority 0
No luck, anyone have any suggestions?
Am I right in assuming you connected your DuneHD via an Onkyo AVR? Have you tried connecting the device directly to your TV?
Are you absolutely sure that the DV you get from Shield/FireTV/AppleTV is real TV-LED (processed by TV) and not Player-LED (converted by the playing device)?
You can check with the âInfoâ panel on the Onkyo by pressing twice on the âInfoâ button (1st audio info, 2nd video info). When playing a DV file, if the Onkyo reports RGB 8 bit then it is TV-LED (good) but if it reports YCbCr 4:4:4 12bit then this LLDV (LowLatency DV), also called Player-LED which means its converted on the playing device from DV to simple HDR.
NOTE: I tell this by memory since I donât have an Onkyo AVR anymore
Depending on your TV, you can also check the info panel if you get the DolbyVision logo and/or technical info such as RGB-8bit or YCbCr 4:4:4 12 bit
This may sound obviously dumb but as you donât state what TV brand you have, I hope you know that no Samsung TV supports DV so any DV content displayed if forcibly Player-LED.
Yes, Onkyo AVR. If I bypass the AVR I get DV from the homatics. Playing from the firetv (thru Kodi ) the AVR reports RGB 24bit. TV is a hisense U8k and supports all the hdr flavors.
If I replace the firetv, shield, or appletv and plug the homatics into those cables I can only get hdr. So it isnât a cable problem. For some reason the homatics with coreelec and the onkyo donât communicate well.
Using Kodi with the homatics through the android side DV works going through the AVR.
I am stumped.
Maybe because your AVR doesnât support DV 4k60Hz. But without any real log no help can be expected.

Here is the log.
