CE on Ugoos AM6B+ & AM9 Pro crashes on attempted playback of Dolby Vision 8.4 HLG base layer 4K60 MP4

My Ugoos AM9 Pro running the official CoreELEC-Amlogic-no.aarch64-22.0-Piers_nightly_20260719-Genericbuild crashes when I attempt to play this file (can PM link for testing) with the following MediaInfo properties:

AM6B+ users have reported the crash affects them too.

A Gemini Plus analysis of the attached log files concludes it’s a hard kernel panic/reset:

When Kodi’s demuxer passes the raw dvvC configuration stream to the Amlogic video driver (amlvideo), the driver attempts to parse the RPU metadata and map it onto the HLG pipeline at 60 frames per second. The VPU encounters an unhandled register synchronization failure or a memory fence timeout, immediately forcing a hardware watchdog reset.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Ask him to make a fix also. Analysis is cheap and everyone can do it.

Haha, I was just trying to provide a hint since I have no idea :man_shrugging:

All samples are locked and only available for registration.
Provide a direct download link or nobody will help you.

@Portisch @vpeter as I don’t have the rights to the file, I can’t post it publicly. Can one of you PM me for it, as I don’t think I can PM you.

Homatics R 4K Plus with 20260719 plays this sample without issue over HTTP.

Update: seems I was able to play it yesterday but today not anymore.

The issue is the streams aren’t in correct order:

So stream 0 is video, stream 1 is audio.
Sure there is a issue in kodi as it think it’s EL DV data because of video is not pid 0.
Will be solved one day…

I asked the video’s creator if they would be able to export the video such that the streams are in the correct order. They said that’s how DaVinci Resolve and Apple Final Cut Pro export Dolby Vision files, and they don’t know of any other way to do it within those apps.
