CoreELEC 21.0-Omega_alpha1 Amlogic-ne Discussion

Don’t confuse it with Android, regardless of what that system supports.

Same situation on TX3 mini+ (s905w2). Coreelec is probably booted since I can browse CE folders from win PC, but no picture, just the artifacts as you described.

https://wiki.coreelec.org/coreelec:ce_support

So CoreElec does bitstream DTS lossless just fine, regardless of what the device supports is what you are saying? So the answer to my original question would be yes, CoreElec does enable the Homatics device to bitstream lossless DTS audio (since it does not do so with the current stock Android build).

Regarding thequestion about the DuneHD version, I read somewhere that it’s not the exact same hardware but looking into it it just seems to be that the DuneHD version has an IR receiver which the pure Homatics box does not. Is that correct?

Error-free, internally installed in a cheapo X4. Everything works as expected.
(Actually upgraded from 19-ne-nightly, no problem with upgrading whatsoever)

(PS Although no errors in log, there is still this old issue with video playback stuttering after pause>resume in some videos)

OK, so I reverted back to Android and tried again for CE 21.0 (USB burning tool not working even with newest 3.2, not recognizing the box luckily Amlogic_Burn_Card_Maker_v2.0.2 saved my day).

The result was the same, stuck at boot logo with artifacts. Like @MilePule mentioned if I plug in the wired cable the box did connect to the router with an IP, but since it was during first boot ssh was not enabled so I cannot see what is going on.

I took the liberty and switched the dtb back to the one used on CE 20.1 and vola!! It worked!! Boot normally and I even installed 21.0 on emmc!

FYR, the dtb I’m using is with this MD5 included in 20.1:
s4_s905w2_2g.dtb- 1b248203bf8b9b53cc0a7a7623c39173

Another issue is connecting to a WPA2/WPA3 mixed wireless AP is impossible, system reports “No Input/output error”, no idea if it is realted but to me it feels something like the one mentioned here
But another old S905 (no postfix, just S905) box with CE9.2.8 can connect to the same AP without any issue!

If change encryption to WPA2 only then CE can connect to the AP fine.

This is the log after a wifi attempt, made with wired connection, FYR.

Ok, thx. So the error is in the kernel update and should be able to be identified. I will see what I find on compare this two versions.

@avin please try this dtb with CE-21 alpha1 on S905W2:

Just replace your dtb.img with it and test if it’s normal again.

Regarding thequestion about the DuneHD version, I read somewhere that it’s not the exact same hardware but looking into it it just seems to be that the DuneHD version has an IR receiver which the pure Homatics box does not. Is that correct?

Yes, it is correct.

Since I have similar problem as @avin I’ve tried with CE-21 alpha1 on S905W2:
s4_s905w2_2g_v1.dtb (65.5 KB) posted by @Portisch, but it’s stuck at boot logo with the same artifacts again.
With the dtb file (s4_s905w2_2g) from CE 20.1 it boots normaly, just like @avin.
Log: http://ix.io/4uNh
Log from working dtb from CE 20.1: http://ix.io/4uNt
My box: TX3 mini+ (s905 w2), 2 gb ram, lan 100, 16 gb mmc.

Please try one of these:

s4_s905w2_2g_v2.dtb works.
Here is log : http://ix.io/4uNy

s4_s905w2_2g_v3.dtb also works.
Here is log: http://ix.io/4uNz

I don’t have wifi with either of them.

ok, thx. then here hopefully the last version:

It doesn’t work, same artifacts at boot as s4_s905w2_2g_v1.dtb

Sorry, I forgot the log http://ix.io/4uNA

Final version then (when it works with this v5):
EDIT, ok then it’s v2 our winner

EDIT:
Please update with tomorrow nightly as it should be fixed there.

OK, thanks for the time.

oops I was late a bit…
nevertheless, I tried dtb v4 on my TanixW2, same result, stuck at boot with moving artifacts.
So I will wait new dtb release then.

Hi,
my new Homatic Box R 4K Plus will arrive tomorrow.
This box is initially only for testing. My Odroid N2 with Corelec will remain the main system for now.

Maybe someone can answer a few questions, regarding the Homatic, that have already come up:

  1. I hope the “CoreELEC-Amlogic-ne.aarch64-21.0-Omega_alpha1-Generic.img.gz” is the correct file for the Homatic.
Which dtb file must I use for this device?

  2. I read, that the Homatic does not have an IR Receiver, so I wonder if I will be able to switch the box on with an alternative remote like Logitech Harmony?

Thank you!
