CoreELEC 9.2.3: tvheadend not working

I am a bit confused. Why are you using the n2_dvb dtb when you are using usb tuners?

Do I?
Was not aware that this is that device tree.
Am a bit busy now but when I got some time I’ll set up a new test installation directly with 9.2.3. Do you think the “wrong” device tree is the reason for the problem?

I am not sure. You can just copy the right dtb to /flash/dtb.img and then reboot. All dtb’s are included in /flash/device_trees. No need to reinstall fresh.

What I have done:

Installation of a fresh CoreELEC 9.2.1 (!)
Transferring data of productive system to the new STORAGE (from backup)
Online Update to 9.2.3
Addon updates (one of them was tvheadend42 server)
No success. :-(
dmesg after that: http://ix.io/2ph5

What I have done:

  • Installation of a fresh CoreELEC 9.2.1 (?)
  • Transferring data of productive system to the new STORAGE (from backup)
  • Online Update to 9.2.3
  • Addon updates (one of them was tvheadend42 server)
    No success. :frowning:

dmesg after that: http://ix.io/2ph5

I see. And you tried all the driver add-ons crazycat etc ?

That try has been with kernel drivers and crazy cat drivers. Same as my working 9.2.1.
But wait: Is it necessary to reinstall the driver addons of a new install to get the driver files into the system partition?
Does it make sense to test one driver package, then the other, then both?

So without driver addons your usb tuners don’t work? I just need to know where to look

In productive 9.2.1:
Without drivers the Hauppauge stick reports as single receiver not as dual as it should.
To get the second receiver working I have to activate “DVB drivers from latest kernel”.

Crazy cat seems to be unnecessary. Never tried it before. I needed the crazy cat drivers with an old installation and never tried to disable it.

Did you had a chance to test the build I sent you?

Just saw your message. Will try it tomorrow. Sorry for the delay.

I am getting dropouts with tvheadend every so often. I need to reboot to get the connection running. tvheadend is running on my VIM3 and so is Coreelec 9.2.3. I am running IPTV only through the tvheadend. I can always connect to the web client, even when Kodi cannot. This only started happening after the upgrade to 9.2.3.

No success. dmesg: http://ix.io/2ppd
Deactivated crazy cat drivers, rebooted. Just the “drivers from latest kernel” are active. They are necessary for the dual receiver Haupauge stick.
If the number in file name of the development built is an internet date it means

Might be helpful or not…

But so we clear without driver addons you don’t have an oops and tvheadend works right?

I guess thats it for me. There is no way for me to debug it without the hardware.

No, sorry. Even without both driver add-ons 9.2.3 does not work.
The report of working tvheadend was related to 9.2.1 with disabled drivers – my working productive system.

Thank you for trying.

Is the oops the same?

Ok, did a few tests. Enabling disabling driver addons with a reboot for every change. It’s the test built you sent me.

  1. Crazy Cat driver addon makes no difference. It doesn’t hurt and it doesn’t help.
  2. “Drivers from the latest kernel” produces a system without working tvheadend: http://ix.io/2ppX
  3. Both driver addons disabled: Works but fails to recognize the 2nd receiver of Hauppauge dual DVB-T2 stick.
