Dolby Vision Profile, VS10, plus other info on skins

@chuckster
Have you tried creating a build, installing it and then seeing if the brightness values for DoVi/HDR work with my edited skin?

Did everything but testing your skin)). There seems to be an issue with bit depth being 10 instead of 12 for FEL titles (can’t say for sure if it’s only reporting issue or a mode setting one). It’s being checked.

Can you also take a look in the last commit (made several hours ago), there are some more fields there.

Yes I have seen the commit, seems like four things have been added.

The problem is that I can’t test them as I don’t have a build with these changes.

I tried to make a build, but the build instructions in the wiki don’t seem to be complete or I’m just too stupid for that.

why’s that? seems you saw them at least one time for the screenshot? or am I to stupid to understand the issue?

looks great!! double press to see the second screen? third press is closing the views?

@allnamesaregoneallre
I’ve just prepared it so that when we get the next build I’ll only have to adapt it a little. That would have saved me time. I have never seen the brightness values in practice.
Simply press left or right with the remote control to switch between the two views. The back button close the view completly.

I’m going to play with the color a bit more, it seems to me that it’s too dark. A few shades lighter would be better. But it’s a small matter of a few minutes.

Does anyone know where I put the xbmc, linux-amlogic and media_modules-aml folder to start the build?

I know the page but it doesn’t say where to add these custom repos:
xbmc, linux-amlogic and media_modules-aml

I have searched the whole CoreELEC repository, but I don’t know where to put them.

projects/Amlogic-ce/packages/linux-drivers/amlogic/media_modules-aml/package.mk
projects/Amlogic-ce/packages/linux/package.mk
projects/Amlogic-ce/packages/mediacenter/kodi/package.mk

Is there no way to support popular skins posted here for CPM builds into the mainline CE? I had issues with A5 latest build with FEL movies constant buffering, and no settings helped the situation. Went back to a previous pre 20241015 build and seems I have no more issues.
Currently I like and use the Arctic Horizon 2 skin (the clear logo text among others looks very good), only wish I was able to see more details on the Player Process Info like I did before -DV profile used etc.

many thanks!! but I cannot see another screen with left right… not so important!! happy Sunday!!

To me it’s childish behavior; but it reminds me again and again how often the history has a tendency to repeat itself…

I have to agree. Why disappoint so many users who were happily using and enjoying your work just because of one silly argument?

@cpm has probably gone full hermit mode now and is still continuing development but just sharing it with some close friends as he has already stated before.

Why not just move away from this forum if you don’t agree with some of the things that happened here and move everything to GH including the discussions?

Note: I’m not saying that this forum has treated him badly, because that’s not the case at all. But he still has the right to move away from it if he wishes.

Something similar happened in kodi forum with the infamous “monsoons” builds, altough for different reasons. I still hope that @cpm will find a solution because he is very sensitive and clever and he knows how many of us are following him.

I can send you the latest build (current nightly + the latest changes by CPM) to test. Can you start a private conversation with me (as it seems I cannot do so for some reason) ?

There have always been people who generously shared their knowledge with others who needed it, sometimes even paying the necessary expenses out of their own pockets, and those who used other people’s work for their own profit. That will never change, so let’s all be grateful to the CE team for their tremendous work and let’s hope that it will continue to our benefit and their satisfaction.

Thank you very much for helping.
I have already received a new build with the latest CPM changes.

I am currently adapting the skin to it.

Do you intend to share this with everybody later on? I am always saddened by this kind of stuff happening on ooen source projects.
It almost always boils down to misunderstanding and miscommunication. :frowning:

later on, sure, once it’s properly tested.
I would also probably wait for the new buffer code (if/whenever it comes) before making it more widely available.

I will not share internal builds.
It has to be compiled by yourself or wait until CPM decides by itself when to release a build.

This is the final version of the skin, based on the latest internal build.
