Enable dolby digital (A3C) transcoding

Hi Gents (and possibly gals)

For some odd reason this option only shows up when selecting 2-channels. Whist you might rightfully expect it to show up for 5 channels too. My AV-switch is showing it receives a bitstream so I’m assuming I am getting DD 5.1 (A3C). Can I verify that conclusively somehow?

Also, I thought E-A3C has an A3C core so transcoding would not be required?
Just to be clear, this option is supposed to output DD when fed DD+?

And yeah, I took me more than an hour to get audio :)!

I presume you are talking about AC3 codec, so first read Kodi audio settings

  • Dolby Digital (AC3) capable Receiver
    • Enable Dolby Digital (AC3) transcoding

Note: Use this option to play a movie which uses DTS but your AVR is not DTS capable to end up with Dolby Digital.

Kodi transcodes all content, including bitstreams (TrueHD, DTS, DTS-HD, EAC3, etc.) that are not selected as passthrough into Dolby-Digital.
