Edit: It’s been just over 2 weeks now and there has been over 100 gigs written to the disk. I really have no idea why on earth there has been so much write activity given my particular configuration.
Hi all. Just wondering if anyone has noticed what seems to be excessive writes to disk? Basically, I have been running CoreElec for 10 days (CoreElec Stable v21.2, NG build on Ugoos AM6B+) and so far, according to the disk’s smart data, there has been almost 40 gigabytes worth data written to the device (note these are host writes and not NAND writes, according to smart data, so data actually sent from the OS to the disk). This seems excessive for a streaming device (all my library content is stored on an external file server). For reference, I’ve turned off all CoreElec logging and the video cache is set to 1 Gig. Additionally, I’m using Emby4Kodi add on with the Estuary skin (I’ve also tried other skins with no difference) but that’s the only add on. I leave the device running 24/7 and have probably watched about 10 hours with of videos. Does anyone have an idea of what could be the source of such heavy write usage of the disks? I thought that perhaps some videos are excessively caching to the disk however, interrogating the Smart Data immediately after watching a video doesn’t seem to support this conclusion. Cheers
