Thanks to CoreElec devs, for all hardwork you put in this project.
CE22 NO Dolby Vision Profile 7 works on Ugoos AM9 PRO,Ugoos SK4 and Ugoos SK4 PRO:
P.S (Maybe CMv4.0 will work someday)
Here, I created a concise explainer for what happens when using a non-DolbyVision display.
Try putting dovi.ko in /storage/.config instead.
nice of you to help but they are not connecting to a DV capable display so moving files around isn’t going to enable this for them
see the log they posted and the explainer posted
So do I understand it correctly if I want FEL support and CMV4.0 I still need to use a Amlogic S922X-J SoC (Ugoos AM6B+ / Neo minix u22-xj)?
no, it works with AM9 Pro S905X5-J, also S905X5M-J but I would not recommend that SoC as it uses A55 CPU cores as the S905X4.
I don’t know, but CMv4.0 sign didn’t appear atleast at this moment, when playing test sample on Ugoos AM9 Pro
(This sign should appear if CMv 4.0 is present
.I noticed that some DV FEL videos are output as 8bit rgb and some as 10bit rgb,but currently I have no explanation why it’s like that and if it makes any difference.
Update, probably it is always 8bit rgb, just sometimes TV makes mistake with analyzing video signal.
You don’t see it because you are using the V3 FEL TEST file which freezes in the exact same spot I’ve described (the issue is raised here, here, and here in this thread). You can use the V4 FEL TEST file which contains a workaround to complete the full test but the underlying issue remains as it will just freeze/exit later on in the second loop
I’m playing the V4 FEL test file on an AMB6+ into a Panny HZ980 and I’m seeing the CMv4 adjustments with player-led as well as TV-led DV. Is player-led CMv4 on the AMB6+ new? I verified the player led via the AVR, showing 12bit 422 signal.
Wow, CM4.0 in LLDV would be huge!
I don’t think any of the 4.x kernel builds can do it (CM2.9 only)?
Maybe 5.x kernel builds can now do it?
This is exciting stuff!
Okay,I didn’t know that, probably this issue will be fixed soon.
Mate you are little bit wrong, yes the new s905x5m uses same A55 cores, but does it really matter? We must compare the real world benchmarks, for example, here you go,same benchmark,s905x4 vs s905x5m,look at the antutu CPU float almost 1000 points more.
The SK4 Pro with s905x5m-K absolutely kills any s905x4 device.
Also look at internal memory speed,CPDT benchmark s905x4 vs s905x5m:
we already got reports from users who uses S905X5M-J device that they got frame skipping and stuff with DV FEL.
I think I know the answer, but I am interested in the real answer from the people who know.
Based on the detail below will the Non pro version of Ugoos AM9 work with these FEL/DV features?
The standard (non-Pro/non-J) Amlogic S905X5 and its cost-reduced variant, the S905X5M, do technically support Dolby Vision at the hardware level, though implementation varies significantly between manufacturers. [1]
Here is the breakdown for the non-Pro versions:
S905X5 (Standard) [1]
Dolby Vision Support: Natively supports DV, HDR10+, and HLG.
Implementation: In devices like the standard Ugoos AM9 (non-Pro), Dolby Vision is supported, but it may require specific firmware (e.g., v1.0.7 or later) to correctly trigger DV modes only for DV content.
Key Difference: Unlike the “J” variant (S905X5-J), the standard S905X5 may lack some advanced licensing or specific performance optimizations found in high-end “Pro” models. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
What???
Amlogic SoC with suffix J or K only support Dolby Vision.
There is only a diff in the audio license, what is only about Android, not Linux.
I just think most people get some snippets everywhere but not at the origin and all play Chinese whispers and mix everything together…
This is one of the most problem of forks and people think they need to reinvent a working system new.
Sorry mate, I didn’t want to upset you.
Before the pro came out the Ugoos website said supported DV, it doesn’t seem to say that now as far as I can see.
Please forgive me ![]()
Whom who? What setup were they using? Wi-Fi connection or wireless?Ssd or HDD drive as a file host?
Seriously, there are tons of problems that could trigger video packet loss and stuttering and yet again, another person who never touched the device, would spread rumors that it is device fault.
This is brilliant
by the Team CoreELEC, Thank you.
Is CMV4.0 really working in LLDV @R3S3T_9999 can you check as that will be amazing!
Your last comment was gone, but anyways.
So, you’re basing your entire opinion on a single random person online who claimed their device was slow.Who offered zero evidence, and now you’re deciding that TV box is garbage and no one should buy it?
