Homatics Box R 4K Plus

Hey all, I am struggling to install/boot into CoreElec on my Nokia 8010.

About a month ago I was running the stable 21 Omega version without any problems until my usb drive died, fast forward to now, I have a new usb drive (warranty, yay!) and tried to do a fresh install but am getting completely stuck on the installation.

After doing the reset btn/toothpick method or using the app and a bunch of loading I eventually load into Recovery mode with a “No command” screen, and the logs have a bunch of repeating lines saying “… no such file or directory”.

What’s happened in the month or so I haven’t been using this? Any ideas on how I could resolve this?

I’ve tried:

  • Creating a bootable drive with both Rufus and Balena
  • Tried, 21.1.1-Omega (Stable), Nightly, and 20.5-Nexus (Final). For all I’ve copied sc2_s905x4_sei_smb_280 from the device tree and renamed to dtb.img in the root.
  • Using the toothpick method, and the app to start the install.
  • Edit: Tried both the USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 port. Am using a Sandisk USB 3.1 Ultra Fit 64GB

That’s the only way.
Try use other usb port, or other USB pendrive

What versions are you trying, to install, -ng, -ne or -no? How big is your new USB stick? I remember that I had problems with good 64GB sticks, had to use a 32GB USB stick…

Tried both usb ports :frowning: as well (sorry forgot to mention that).

All I’ve tried are -ne (that’s what the download helper spits out). My USB drive is 64GB, exact same model and size I used before though.

I’ll see if I’ve got a 32GB anywhere. When trying the 64GB, do you recommend the -ng or -no versions?

On N8010 I tried only -ng and -ne, both worked OK, using USB port closer to the front.

anyone knows if it’s possible to block OTA updates on this so it won’t get Android 14? any url that can be blocked on router level? I’m on Android 11 on this backup box but might update to Android 12 and block it from updating to 14 if possible, Thanks

A way to roll back to Android 11.

An USB A to USB A data cable would be required.

I’m just not booting into Android for now. As long as the device runs only CE, it won’t get any updates.

You cannot Update to ATV12 if you was on ATV14. I have the problem that i can rollback via Burning tool to ATV11, but i can’t update to ATV12 via rescue menu and ZIP file. AndroidTV bootloop.

Everything we need for a rollback from ATV 14 to ATV 12 (12.8.5394 as .img) can be found here under “Rescue Firmware”:

Instructions on exactly how to proceed are included as a PDF.
Also works with bricked boxes.

This makes it possible to use CoreELEC NG again.

Thanks @DonaldFaQ for this.

It is shameful that Homatics does not offer such recovery files. Almost every other manufacturer offers this, even Apple. It’s really sad what Homatics delivers.

Did someone know how to flash dune Premier 4k pro without a reset button ? Don’t know how to connect the box . Reset hole don’t exist.

Hi, Do you know why I have this in there? # /dev/data on /storage type ext4 (rw,noatime,resgid=1065,data=ordered)?
And is it safe to remove the flesh if I’m going to use a CE box that I’m not going to turn off?

What is the current status of Homatics R 4K Plus with Android 14 ATV14?

  1. What doesn’t work while using Android?
  2. What doesn’t work while using CoreELEC?
  3. Which CoreELEC version has Dolby Vision DV support?

This thread is too long.
Recommend to create a sticky or separate thread by one of the admins

  1. Source-led / Sink-Led is broken. No HDR10(+) if Sink-Led is selected but Dolby Vision works. If Source-led is selected, HDR ok but that’s not ideal…

Also reset to factory setting is recommended after update.

2-3. I haven’t tested it, just booted it up. Only the NO version of CoreElec works with Android TV 14. The NG (or NE) version is no longer supported unfortunately. So there will never be support for Dolby Vision with a FEL part, or profile 7 in the future.
The UHD Blu-ray menus don’t work very well, but it was already like that before (with the Java add-on).
At my place, the Bluetooth remote control Dune-HD HY-142 no longer works (it comes from my Real Player 4k). It is connected and recognized, but no button works.
It worked on Android TV 12 with the NG version of CoreElec.

I haven’t had time to test much, so others will be able to inform you better about what isn’t working well in this version yet.

Homatics 4k + box - is it possible to rollback from ATV12.8.7384 to ATV12.8.5394 ?

I’ m mostly using CE so this is not a big deal , but just to be shore, if need it somedays

Maybe I’ve missed something, but -ng nightlies are still coming out, so what makes you say “So there will never be support for Dolby Vision with a FEL part, or profile 7 in the future.”. As far as I’ve understood there may well be an update to coreelec-ng that will work with atv14 on the homatics box r 4k plus. Maybe someone can confirm/deny this? No pressure to the devs either way, it’s just that people are wondering whether it’s worth buying this box anymore (for -ng + FEL playback) since soon they’ll ship with atv14.
