I’m on NO now but it reads that there is a kernel problem and dolby vision does not work despite putting the correct dovi.ko on the usb.
Can only confirm that both NG and NO work with V14 and DV, using the correct Dovi.ko for any of those. For NO that is the 430KB version.
Idk I upgraded to ugoos for Coreelec few months ago and for streaming I always had a AppleTV box around.
The procedure is reinstalling a previous firmware version, there is no root or other alterations to the firmware.
In my case Hybrid movies with both DV and HDR won’t play DV but only HDR
I’m using CoreELEC (official) 21.2-Omega nightly (2025-09-08) on a Dune Homatics R 4K Plus (Amlogic S905X4).

Large UHD Blu-ray rips (e.g. Blade Runner 2049 ~80GB, Dolby Vision + TrueHD Atmos) play perfectly.

But small MKV/MP4/M2TS files (<200 MB, typically SDR/H.264) result in a blank screen (no video).

When I check the logs, I see the Amlogic hardware decoder returning errors and repeated resets.

The display also tries to switch resolution/refresh rate, which seems to trigger the black screen.

But do they support Dolby Vision FEL ? , I am ATV 14

i am using NG build , not sure when i play like mp4,mkv, mt2s files below 50MB loader keeps showing , not sure what happens , but able to play all dolby FEL and MKV MP4 with 80 gig files smoothly
I’m sorry, but this thread is just too long to look for answers. So, I just got my Homatics box set up and CoreELEC running. I’m on a ATV 12 firmware version 5394, and CoreELEC NE 21.2 Omega and I have some big issues with video playback. Only 4k videos without Dolby Vision plays smoothly. 4k videos with dolby vision drops frames constantly and on 1080p SDR videos it is even worse. I’ve been using CoreELEC for years and I’m quite sure that this is not a settings issue. Is this normal behaviour on this device and is it recommended to use another firmware and/or CoreELEC version?

Yes. I found the instructions and got everything set up. However, no matter what CoreELEC version I’m using, this device has some serious issues. With one version, there is frame drops, with another the whole device freezes after watching a video for a less than ten minutes. I’m starting to believe that this device is a b-grade production. Or even below that.
I got all working on ATV 12, and that was the best experience this far. There is one big issue though. After watching a movie for around an hour, it goes in a slide show mode. If I stop the movie and continue watching, it plays fine till the end. That’s why I’m starting to think that this device is a disaster.
This is a known issue with the Homatics device running ATV 12. It occurs especially with files or streams that include embedded or external subtitles. Unfortunately, Homatics was never able to fix this problem on ATV 12. The only reliable solution is to upgrade to ATV 14. And don’t forget to perform a hardware reset after the upgrade.
