How can I play 1440p content without downscaling to 1080p?

I have CoreELEC 21.3 on an ODroid-N2+. My GUI is set to 1080p50. If I try to play 1440p60 video, it adjusts the output to 1080p60 and it plays smoothly, but obviously the video is being downscaled unnecessarily. How can I get it to adjust to 2160p60 instead?

If I set the GUI to 2160p50, Kodi still adjusts to 1080p60 when I start playback. If I manually change the resolution to 2160p after the video has started playing, I get some audio weirdness and then the video stops itself after a bit.

Hoping there is some way of mapping input and output resolutions and refresh rates somehow?

Leave GUI at 1080p. Can you make a whitelist for the display res?

CE-21 Is EOL.

Update to CE-22 and enable the Vesa modes in CE settings. Maybe than the vesa modes come up when supported by your display.

I can but I play plenty of 1080p50 and 1080i/25 content, I don’t want it all upscaled to 2160p, I’d rather let the TV do that. I just want to ensure Kodi/CoreELEC doesn’t ever downscale content.

CE-21 may be “EOL” but CE-22 is only beta. There seems to be no stable in-support release. Also my TV (LG OLED B7) doesn’t support 1440p natively.

How you will play than 1440p at all when display doesn’t support?

By upscaling it to 2160p, rather than downscaling to 1080p. I thought I was pretty clear about that in my first post.
