Install VLC player

How it’s possible to install VLC player on CoreELEC? In Entware’s full packages list VLC is not available=> https://bin.entware.net/armv7sf-k3.2/Packages.html

Maybe it’spossible to do from main CoreELEC menu?

You do have Kodi to play content

And probably the answer is no, you can’t install it.

why it’s not possible to use an alternative player to play a content?

CoreELEC is a ‘Just enough OS’ Linux distribution based on Kodi …

CoreELEC is not full Linux distribution. If you need VLC you need to choose one other distribution for your device.

I understood but maybe exists any working dog-nail for this purpose?

First of all, entware for CoreELEC is not armv7sf version but aarch64.

ffmpeg can be piped with the tvheadend service in the official version of CoreELEC via entware, but unfortunately VLC is not available. If you want to experiment with VLC you will have to download the Russian version of CoreELEC (ae-fork) for amlogic-ng, or AlexELEC for the old amlogic.

I am using ffmpeg with IPTV for the tvheadend service and it works great. Changes are straightforward, instead of using the remote IPTV channel address

http://<IPTV_IP>:<PORT>/.../<IPTV_channel>

it’s used

pipe:///opt/bin/ffmpeg -loglevel fatal -vcodec copy -acodec copy -f mpegts -tune zerolatency pipe:1 -i http://<IPTV_IP>:<PORT>/.../<IPTV_channel>

The use of VLC will be similar to ffmpeg.
