Maybe try to make contact with original poster and add it to the first post. Kind of a how to
I received my second Kinhank G1 box and this time I was able to install the custom fw and therefore Coreelec!!
I have a few small questions especially at startup, do you also have a 30sec countdown while Coreelec is loading and before it appears?
My other question regarding the remote control, what file should we put on the SD card so that it is recognized or so that we can simply add another remote control?
Coreelec base and therefore installed on the SD card, is there a way to accelerate the loading or the speed inside Coreelec with a particular manipulation?
Regarding movies in .iso and BDMV format, can you access the Menu? I installed the java add-on for this but it doesn’t seem to work…
Thanks for your help.
OK thank you for your feedback.
I have already been able to fix the remote control.
Regarding the speed, everything is going very well because I had a film scan in the meantime which took up a lot of resources now everything works perfectly and no slowdown.
All I have left is this countdown problem which is triggered at the start of the process. I don’t know why I took a photo of the message I got when launching coreelec the first time apparently my device tree file would not be not up to date…
Your dtb file is outdated
Which version to take? However, I took the last one posted here: “sc2_s905x4_kinhank_g1_new_revision”
Because the support of this DT was removed it’s out dated.
So which one to take?
Sell the device?
I don’t understand @kszaboa on the same device and it doesn’t get this message…
There are 2 versions of .dtb images for G1. One is for rev-a boxes that have 1Gb ethernet chip, and the other is for boxes with rev-d boxes that don’t have this ethernet chip, and only get 100Mb speed. For rev-d you need the “new_revision” dtb image. For rev-a you need “sc2_s905x4_kinhank_g1.dtb”.
When you install “CoreELEC-Amlogic-ng.arm-21.1-Omega-Generic.img.gz” you get the .dtb file for rev-a box version.
Try both of them if not sure. If you cannot find them, I can send you both of them to try.
What you don’t understand by “support is dropped”?
For users that buy new Kinhank G1 boxes DO NOT POWER ON THE BOX BEFORE READING THIS. YOU FIRST HAVE TO UPDATE THE BOX. After installing this update to your G1 you are all set to use Coreelec. Be aware that you will not get any help and support from CoreElec team because they dropped the development for Kinhank devices.
Instruction for installing Firmware update by @hungphutho:
Install “V3_setup_V3.2.8.exe” on a Win PC
Load “dv8910-hungphutho-v1.img” to Burning Tool
UNCHECK “Verify Bootloader” BOX !!!
Connect G1 with USB_A to USB_A cable to PC (use 2nd USB port away from uSD card port)
Press and hold Reset button and apply power to G1.
(Flashing should start now. If it does not, disconnect box and close Burn Tool. Repeat
the procedure until it starts flashing. I had to do it twice before it started flashing)
After it flashes for about 5-10 seconds release Reset button.
When flashing finishes close Burn Tool.
RUN “flash.bat” file…

@Sholander and @kszaboa Thanks for all your help with the Firmware and DTB info.
I read the whole thread and then forgot everything important for the G1 by the time I needed it:)
My G1 has just arrived, so I’m planning on having a play around with it over the next week or two.
It’s my first time installing/using CoreELEC so it’s a bit of a learning curve but I’m getting there.
Nice Good job for new users (if they read your post lol)
**The video instructions already included in the hungphutho firmware img
Didn’t see it included, so linked it separately…
Only after an update. Also I do not turn the Box off… so CE is always there when I go to that Box.
Yes countdown when booting CE from SD card. Its ok.
