Mecool KM6 S905X4 - Unable to boot off SDcard

Mind you, this is not my first time, just my first time with this Mecool unit.

I just got a MeCool KM6 s905x4. It has 4g and 1gbit network.

I downloaded the S905X4

burned the image with Rufus

I chose the S905x4 4g 1000g image and copied it to the root of the sdcard and renamed the file to dtb.img

I have used the tooth pick method, I never get it to boot directly to the sdcard. I keep getting the android recovery screen. I’ve used the coreelecc to boot app, and that gives me the android recovery screen. I’ve tried multiple.. Reboot to bootloader doesn’t work, it just hangs…

I can mount the sdcard and see it via the device. the only thing i can think of is that it doesn’t like the dtb.img

Im using a Samsung 32g flash drive plugged into the 2.0 usb port, although i tried the 3.0 as well.

I have another S905X4 device, it was under a different brand and that worked flawlessly.

Any thoughts?

Well, i got it working thanks to AI. I don’t know if AI led me down a more difficult path, but it works.

I used the AmLogic Burning Tool, and burned the SlimboxTV image

I had to disable the driver signature in windows first to install the Amlogic usb drivers. I ran the Amlogic burn tool and burned the slimboxtv image. Once i successfully uploaded the image to the device, i didn’t even need to boot into the image. The toothpick trick then worked and booted into CoreElec. I restored my coreelec backup and got it working.

That was hours of pain figuring it out, hope i save someone some time.

Interesting . I have 2 Tox3 S905x4 boxes. On one of mine some time back I had to do similar (SlimBox image). Been 100% so far.
