Movie Extras playback form external server via anything but SMB/NFS

Hi all,

I’ve realized SMB is just too slow for my network. It’s not a streaming protocol and is not efficient at sending media over wifi (at least from my experience).

Then I discovered the Jellyin for Kodi addon, and it uses the HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) protocol. Wow, what a difference. No more laggy playback, delays. All my network issues have been fixed.

The problem is, this addon does not include ability to play movie extras (at least for now). It looks like an open feature request on their github. Feature Request: Expose Extras · Issue #787 · jellyfin/jellyfin-kodi · GitHub

So that got me thinking, what other non SMB/NFS servers are there that allow me to centrally manage my library, that include movie extras playback on coreelec?

Has anyone tried Mezzmo?

Thank you.
