I have seen improvement in some video quality on non HDR 4K TV using my S905X2 box.

Every so often I run some test files to see whether little anomalies are resolved and after the latest nightly I saw 2 improvements.

One of the widely available test files, LG New York HDR UHD 4K Demo.ts always had some noticeable screen tearing in parts of the video that had blue sky. The file plays perfectly now.

The other is Sony_4K_HDR_Camp.mkv. For quite a while now, when the video panned across the 3 vehicles, the red one on the left looked rather washed out but now the red is vibrant.

I also noticed a small improvement in colour saturation when it comes to playing general HDR files on a non HDR TV, perhaps something in the region of 10-20%.

I have been experiencing lip sync issues as well since 19.4 on N2. Never ever seen that before with any Kodi/CE version. I thought it might be the kernel bump, since 19.3 does not have this behaviour at all.
Reverted back all ‘production’ systems for now. If this is not a known issue and i can produce some useful logging or something (whicxh i do not expect), let me know. For now, 19.4-Nightly does not bring anything special for me over .3, but i’ll keep a testsystem running just in case more info is needed.

It seems to work without problems. It also works the remote (AirMouse on USB) suspending and restarting! (waking up from usb event). Good job!

Yes, I can confirm. The artifacts with HDR-files playing on SDR-displays I noticed here in the past on my N2 are gone now.

But there is no change with brightness for me, the HDR-files are way too dark farther.

Since several nightlies I’m getting freezes while watching live TV on my N2. Does anyone else have issues?

I am unable to replicate this behaviour on my Odroid N2.

Please provide more detail as well as information on your setup and TV tuner.

@vpeter Hi, just a quick update Nightly 20220403 fixes the python issue I was having, I’m guessing the bump to Python 3.9.12 solved this.

However I’m now having Bluetooth issues, I use a FireTV bluetooth remote which has always worked perfectly. However now it connects but is completely unresponsive in Kodi, I see in the changelog that Bluez was updated to 5.64, maybe that’s the issue?

  2. Yes, one extra patch is needed for bluez bump but this nightly doesn’t have it yet.

I test the new 20.0-Nexus_nightly_20220406 and now i have problems that the samba connection to my PC dont work (\IPadress)
I test it on a N2 and an X3 Box , its the same

Has anybody the same issue ?

You need to use \IPadress\share_name. Looks like some changes has been introduced to samba 4.16 and now it doesn’t show available shares anymore.

Yep, Samba on nightly 20220406 and later is completely screwed up.

I do a lot of skin development directly on my N2 over samba so I can directly save files on the device and see the resultant skin changes in real time. But as of samba 4.16 every few minutes when saving files I’m getting various errors:-

Unable to write file.
Error: EMFILE too many open files
Unknown filesystem (filesystem error)

This is using both PC and Mac. Any fix for this?
